Solo Home improvements cashed the check and when I contacted them to set up the installation appointment the owner told me he would be out April 24, 2017. This was due to the many repairs on windows in the Colorado Springs area. We patently waited for the April 24th date. On April 23rd I did not hear from Solo Home Improvements to confirm they were coming so I attempted to contact them, I left voice messages and called several times over and over for the next several months. We never heard from them again. I continued to try and reach the company several times over the past 11 months and to this day we have never heard from Solo Home Improvements. We have since contacted another window company PeakView window who came out and conducted a new assessment and discovered that 5 windows were damaged not 4. Which means the Solo Home Improvement assessment was not done correctly and the cost estimate from PeakView Windows was less for five of the high end (G3) windows. This means Solo Home improvements over charged for the cost of the windows and probably would have installed cheaper windows and pocketed the money. Solo Home Improvement is a textbook fraud case and we do not recommend anyone use their services. Frank was picked to do the work because he seemed quite sincere and came highly recommended by another contractor that was doing concrete work for my next-door-neighbor. We were sharing the cost of the fence so that part was a joint decision. The majority of the work was completed as promised, but the fence was never quite completed; boards have not been installed to cover exposed posts and it was never sealed (Frank said he'd throw it in at no additional cost), a magnet was never employed to pick up dropped screws, and I've cleaned up those and the loose pieces of concrete from the removal of the old posts myself. Although he has repeatedly stated that he'll take care of it, there are spots that were missed that have not been touched up on the house paint, there's still an incorrectly finished spot of the fascia sheathing and it is all rippled, not smoothly installed. There's still tape hanging on one end of the house from the plastic sheeting that was used to cover the brickwork while the wooden peak was being painted. It's now more than a month later, and he has not even come back to pick up the debris he left behind (now a pile because I picked up the scattered posts, etc and moved them to one spot,) also repeatedly promised. Frank seems to make commitments that he can't or won't keep, as he also indicated he would repair the mortar in the brickwork where it had been damaged and that was never done. I don't know if the lapses are intentional, if he has memory problems or lacks organizational skills (he doesn't write much down), but it is a major concern! It would be a relief if he would show up to take care of the work per our agreement, but I'm not holding my breath that he'll be back any time soon!
