Mike Edde, the owner of Climate Design, took the time to show me exactly what he was doing and what to look for in the future if I have problems. He was a pleasure to talk with and professional - excellent! I found my new HVAC go-to company!

We recently had an air conditioner installed by Climate Design. We had done our research and they had the cheapest bid. We were very happy with their friendly and professional service. They're a great family owned business and we have already recommended them to our friends and family.

I had an annual checkup on my furnace. The technician was very knowledgeable, helpful and courteous. He went out of his way to make sure everything was working properly and to explain his work. I had not used this company before but he is now my furnace man.

Great service. Climate Design (formerly Colorado Temperature Control) has been getting my furnace ready for winter for the last 20 years and I'm sure having this done has saved me from needing a new furnace. Additionally they installed a Trane airconditioner 15 years ago and it still performs great. It was oversized for the house so when most HVAC companies would only install the minimum BTU unit that ends up runnng all the time, mine doesn't even work up a sweat cooling my house. I highly recommend their service.

They were very conscientious and quick. They came out several times to make sure that the furnace was working right and to check some sections. Overall, it was a very satisfying experience. We got bids from several people and their bid was the best. They were very quick in responding. I would use their services in the future too.

When Mike and his helper showed up to put in the water heater, I asked him again about an estimate for air conditioning. Mike was very surly and just said that he would talk to me about that later on. He then left the house without saying anything at all. Fair enough. He apparently did not care to have my business for the air conditioning. This simply points up his total lack of professionalism and good business sense. When the building inspector came, he said that the company had missed a vital part of the installation and that he was not going to pass the inspection. The inspector said that all I had to do was wait for a call from them. I got that call, and in it, Mike Edde was again very surly and rude. He seemed angry to have to come back to take care of their mistake. He made no apology for the added inconvenience on my part. He did not seem to care that their mistake would take up a lot of my time. About a week later, I noticed that there was a lot of water on the floor and that it was draining into the crawl space. I called the company several times and got no response at all. I waited several days and then called back again. In my message, I indicated that I was surprised that they wouldn't bother to call back a customer having problems with their product. I said that I probably would not use them for my air conditioning. This finally prompted Mike Edde to call me back. He still offered no apology and treated me as if I were an annoyance. He came to my house for a few minutes and told me that the pressure from the water main was too high, but that they had adjusted the regulator and everything should be fine. He said that if there were further problems, I could call them and they would adjust the regulator again. I have had more problems and now there is a leak from somewhere else, so I called them. Like before, they didn't bother to call me back. After five days, I left them a message indicating that I was going file a complaint with the BBB. Mike called back. We ended up getting into an argument over the phone. I said that I was very frustrated that they wouldn't call me back and that I just wanted my brand new water heater to work correctly. He said that we would have to pay more money to get the regulator replaced. I confronted him on the fact that he himself had given me different information by saying that they could just make more adjustments. He refused to account for that discrepancy, which makes me think that he was lying. I also expressed frustration that he didn't disclose the need for a new regulator up front before the water heater installation. Throughout the phone conversation, Mike was extremely rude and condescending. He continually refused to account for the inconsistent information and actually screamed into the phone several times. The conversation ended with him hanging up on me. I have tried to contact him again, but he won't answer my calls.
Response from Climate Design
"The member was extremely upset with this entire project. We were sent on the call to replace a hot water heater because the bottom had fallen out. We responded with 24 hours to his call. We gave him an upfront bid to replace the heater, which he approved. Once the hot water heater was in place, the pop off valve (the copper tubing that drains the hot water water heater when the pressure gets too great in the tank) was draining water. The member called us back over to investigate, which we did. We adjusted his pressure regulator valve for free and told him to keep an eye on it. The pop off valve continued to drain water and so we told him he would need a new regulator valve. Unfortunately he did not like this at all, and wanted the regulator valve included in the original price of the hot water heater install. We tried to explain that they are two separate issues and that it would be an additional cost to replace the valve. He then accused us of trying to "rip him off" and that the hot water heater was not installed correctly. He became very heated and abusive in his language, where our customer service rep had to eventually hang up on him. He then reported us to Angie's List and the BBB. We have offered him a full refund for the hot water heater and have offered to replace the regulator valve for free if our assessment did not fix the problem. There was zero way to diagnose the regulator valve prior to the hot water heater installation as the main water was turned off, however, it was more than likely the cause of the existing heater's failure. He has chosen not to take us up on our offer. We take customer satisfaction very seriously, which is why we offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee on all our products and services."
