-- Update 7/21/14 --
I had a highly recommended painter estimate and complete the work that needed to be done to correct the shortcomings of CPC's paint crew. It came out to ~$2,000. I'm now even more disappointed in CPC's foreman who shrugged off $2,000 of work that needed to be done to clean up the result of his poor attention to detail.

-- Update 4/15/2014 --
A concrete pad, one (maybe more) concrete fence post footers, and 25 trees cut down to mulch level were left in the yard. Gardening has been very difficult because of this.

Charlie Paterson Construction (CPC) states they have a five year guarantee. While I didn't contract them directly, the house I purchased had been worked on by them in 2010. There were a few issues with the work so I approached the company. They stated they would fix some issues, but not others.
After I contacted CPC, an employee inspected the issues with their work. These issues included poor quality painting (you can see wood through some paint, streaks of the wrong color of paint, heavy runs, unfilled nail holes, protruding nail holes), multiple cracks in the paint work on door frames, corners, and the ceiling, and electrical problems. The employee shrugged off the excessive paint problems, but said he would have the electrical problems assessed.
A few days later an electrician arrived at the house. The electrician, instead of only assessing the problems, corrected the problems immediately and left.
About a week later, the CPC employee called me to state the electrician wanted reimbursement from CPC. I asked the employee to explain what he wanted from me. He said he would call me back. He never called back.
A few weeks later I received a bill for $127.49 directly from the electrician. I contacted the CPC employee I was working with and he acted like he did not know me. I emailed CPC and never received a response.
I was never given any estimate or even a warning that I would be charged. The charges seem excessive for the three minutes of work performed.

I was thinking about using CPC for additional work to the house, but based on their lack of response to the guarantee I would choose another contractor.
I don't understand why a company that does such good work otherwise would act in such an irresponsible manner and leave some work looking like pig slop.

It was a project from H*** that required extensive scaffolding all around my home for several weeks. More than one contractor walked away from the job without providing an estimate. Another one bid on it and then disappeared. Charlie then agreed to do the job and his team stayed on top of the project.  When I had concerns about some of the subcontracted work, Charlie made sure that every issue was corrected until I was completely pleased with the outcome.  I would definitely trust Charlie to produce the best-possible results on any difficult or challenging job. He's not inexpensive, but in the end, he invoiced me for less than his original estimate. Charlie has a well-deserved reputation for professionalism.

Charlie Paterson Construction was recommended by Lee Roth Designs. Don't even consider anyone else. These people are the ultimate. They are so client oriented. It is a pleasure to work with them and their subs, all of whom they have used for a long time and who are used to working together. Kevin Degenhart is an excellent estimator of costs and Jerry Gotovich is the consummate foreman who makes everything go smoothly. There are no days of missed work. Timelines are followed. You are kept informed and involved in decision making. You get what you pay for. I am totally pleased with the results and I am very particular.

They work on older homes. I was happy with them. They were all professional. Kevin is the supervisor. When he said they would be here, they were on time.

Charlie Paterson built a house for me in 1997-1998, so I knew the quality of work that he provides.  When I wanted to remodle, it was a no-brainer.  On the remodle project, Mick was the supersivor and it started on time and finished in the four month perior we agreed to.  It was also within the budget we established.  The job went smoothly and without incident.  Subs were very professional and did high quality work.  I am very satisfied with the final product , and my continuing relationship with Charlie and Mick.  They are my guys, and I will use them on another project.

It went extremely well from start to finish and the bathroom turned our beautifully. Paterson's foreman was meticulous in making sure that everything was done exactly how we wanted it to be done. His staff is highly skilled at what they do, all work is guaranteed for five years! If they were not sure what I wanted, they did not proceed until we had talked and cleared up any questions. Cost wise, I received ammended cost estimates every time I asked to have something added that was not part of our original contract. The workers treated our house as carefully and thoughtfully as though it was theirs. For example, they taped down cardboard panels on all the floors and steps leading up to the third floor. All the contractors hired by Paterson, such as the electricians and plumbers work to Paterson's standards or he doesn't keep them. Many of those contractors told me they loved getting jobs from Charlie because their job was clearly spelled out ahead of time and they always got paid on time!! Paterson stands behind the sub-contractors' work. I noticed that the drain in the new sink did not hold water and called the foreman. In a couple of days, the plumbing company was there to get it fixed. As I said, this was our most recent project with Paterson Construction. They remodeled our kitchen a few years ago and we received the same excellent work. When we first bought the house in 1997, Paterson did work such as putting on an new front porch and a new back porch, putting crown moldings in several rooms, removing a low, false ceiling and remodeling the master bathroom. I can recommend Charlie Paterson Construction with absolutely no reservation. They are honest, they do exactly what they say they are going to do, they keep the client informed every step of the way and they do a great job.
