The office could use a renovation, but that might be why their prices are so great. Caring staff, they made sure to check on our dog after the surgery and got back with me on questions I had. Overall, super place.

I have been bringing my two dogs and cat to Buxton for about 6 months now. We are a military family and always dread finding a new vet after a move. I don't consider myself picky but I have found most Col. Springs vets lousy. Buxton was the 4th vet I tried and exactly what I was looking for.
Others vets in town are too busy or know-it-alls to listen to their customers. I don't like how other vets have a tech in some and quot;dark closetand quot; administering shots, bloodwork, etc. What's wrong with the exam room where I can see what they're doing and what they're injecting?
I didn't like the patronizing lectures from other vets on how I should be caring for my animals and forget trying to bring up something you researched on your own to them!
I don't want a $30 dog toothbrush, I don't want to neuter my dog at 6 months, I think Science Diet and Royal Canin are lousy foods, and I don't want to over vaccinate. ( ain't I horrible?)
I have had my pets seen by all three vets at Buxton and they are caring friendly top notch veterinarians. They spend huge amounts of time listening and examining your pet without trying to sell you ridiculous things you don't need or want. They don't have the prettiest waiting room or storefront, but the level of care is outstanding and the prices they charge are what I would call cheap.
I have recommended them to many of my friends and everyone ended up switching from their former vets (even from the so-called top rated vets on this list).
This is my first review and I am a middle-aged man, so excuse any of my posting etiquette errors...I just wanted to put the word out that these are good people. They even have a 1/2 off coupon for your 1st visit which I used without a problem.

Dr. Barb had been diligently following a mass she found on our older lab. When it became apparent that the mass had grown significantly in size over a short period of time she suggested an exploratory surgery to identify what the mass was. Her concern for our dogs health and well being was genuine and heartwarming. The mass was successfully removed and found to be non-cancerous.

They were great they always call to check on my pets after procedures. I feel the advice is always sound and they always are available for questions or problems. Prompt apt's too. They were having a teeth cleaning special coming up and the tech advised me to move my apt couple weeks which saved me money.

A good sign is how your pet responds to visits to their office. Stormy Rose cannot wait to go in, tries to go back with the techs and vets to visit, and shows no sign of fear when around them. Most of the other animals waiting do not express any anxiety so they must be doing some thing right.

I found Buxton Vet on Angie's List. I called and they were able to schedule us for that day! Not realizing they were across town since I just moved to Colorado, I was late but they saw us anyway. Dr. Nancy Fuselier saw my cat, Brian starting at 9:30 am. Brian is not nice to anyone at the vet's; he has been known to hiss, bite and pee on people who try to handle him at the vet's office. Dr. Fuselier and the Buxton staff knew just how to handle him. They kept him for the entire day, waiting for him to urinate. They close at 6:00 p.m. and did not call me. I called them at 5:00 p.m. and they told me he was ready to be picked up. My only complaint was they could have called me sometime during the day with and update and also prior to closing time so I would have enough time to get across town with the traffic to pick him up. One of the staff members carried Brian to my car, since I had my 8 month old in my arms. Overall, they were very professional and helpful. I would use them again.

Dog was sick all of a sudden, and I was afraid it was going to be hundreds for blood work, xrays, ultrasound, surgery etc. They explored all our options and were cost conscious with me. They didn't just recommend surgery and a battery of tests, but sat with me for over 45 minutes brainstorming. And so nice, too!

On Sunday night, we discovered one of our dogs had a sore on the side of his face. A quick call got us in to see Dr. Ron Buxton at 8:30 Monday morning. Dr. Ron examined the dog and prescribed two meds, but was concerned about possible drug interaction with some other meds the dog takes. Dr. Buxton phoned the specialist and confirmed the meds would not interact negatively.

Went well, until I tried to board my pet later for the Thanksgiving weekend. The boarding kennel I took the dog to looked over the vaccination paperwork and said that the vet didn't give my dog all of the vaccinations. I called the vet and told the receptionist my problem, and she said that they don't give the kennel cough vaccination unless you specifically ask for it. All other vets I have used ALWAYS include this vaccination. They may want to let the customer know this before they send you home. VERY inconvenient.

As always, a great experience. The Drs. Buxton are kind, careful, and go out of their way to make the experience as pleasant as possible for the patient. My dog was scared so Dr. Ron took his time with her examination, talking gently to her the whole time. Since she was due for 4 vaccinations (3 yr Rabies, Bordetella, Leptosporosis, and the Distemper/parvo/rhinovirus combo) he recommended we split it between 2 visits, with the second visit as a drop in a week after the first. I have 5 cats and 1 dog and the Buxtons provide all my veterinary services which have included dental surgeries, spays, neuters, annual exams, and vaccinations. They provided care for an elderly cat in the end stages of renal failure. They have reasonable prices, reasonable hours, friendly and helpful staff, and they provide multi-pet discounts. The office cat, JR, is properly dignified and puts up with anxious visitors. I recommend them highly.

The business is a husband and wife veterinarian team. They are top notch all the way. I am very satisfied with their knowledge and pleasant ways including their office employees. They have been in practice for more than 20 years.
