Although they were late and I received a call from Ron saying they would be here eventually. The guys showed up after dark, cleared the drive and were very friendly and helpful!
After the first lawn mowing, we realized one of our sprinkler heads was now POURING water out of it (rather than spraying). We called Ron and he came out the next day to fix it. He said that the sprinkler head had been installed with too-short of a pipe (or something along those lines) by the original landscaper so when his lawn mower tapped it, it broke off. By the time I came home from work (my husband was already there), Ron was digging up the area around the sprinkler and replacing it with a different head. I thought this was excellent customer service.
With all the rain we received in June, we didn't realize it right away, but we eventually realized that his new sprinkler head had the same issue. We noticed that we consistently have a river/bog through our backyard so when we went out to watch the watering last weekend, we saw that the water was simply POURING out of the base of the new sprinkler head.
We also realized that they had continued the lawn mowing service beyond the 4 mowings I had requested. Therefore, I called Ron Monday morning to discontinue our mowing service and address the sprinkler head issue. I left him a voicemail on his office number. He never called back. I called again Wednesday morning. His office number now had a full voicemail box (so I could not even leave another message) but I left a message on the cell number listed on our billing invoice. I explained (again) that I can not have my cell phone at work so between the hours of 8 & 5, please call my work number. After 5 pm, he can call my cell. I left each phone number (twice) in the voicemail message.
Finally, Thursday morning (3 days after my first message from Monday) he called back. He called my cell number at 8:40 am so he had to leave a message. I called him back when I finished work at 5 and got the message. His office number still had a full voicemail box so I left (ANOTHER) message on his cell number. I tried calling again Friday morning, to avoid him calling the wrong number again, and now his cell number is saying that the number is "unavailable" and the office number still has a full voicemail box. I just sent him a message via Angie's List because I have no other way to reach him. I tried calling each number a couple more times throughout the day on Friday, to no avail. I finally sent him a certified letter (through USPS) today, Saturday, notifying him to cease mowing our lawn and that the sprinkler head still needs to be repaired, as it was damaged and then replaced by Bugle Lawn and Landscape.
I will pay for the lawn mowings we have received to-date, but I am not going to pay for any future mowings. I have told Ron multiple times (on each phone number, through an unanswered Angie's List message, and now in a certified letter) that we no longer want his service. I'm guessing we will be out-of-luck for the broken sprinkler head since Ron has only returned my communication one time in the past week, and it was on a number that I clearly stated I would not be able to answer at the time he called it. We are guessing he is avoiding us at this point.
This was an unfortunate turn-of-events because he seemed so honest and professional when he came out to replace the sprinkler head initially.
**UPDATE** Two days after I posted this review, Ron called and left me a voicemail that he would come out to our house that same day (Monday). At 8:45 pm, he called my cell phone and said they had gotten too busy and he'd be out tomorrow. We were not home when he came but we realized Wednesday morning that he had worked on a sprinkler that was NOT the one that was leaking. I called and left him another voicemail on his office line later that day (Wednesday) describing which sprinkler was leaking and asked for a return call -- leaving my phone numbers again. He never called back. Instead, he showed, unannounced, at our house at 5:30 on Thursday (we had a 6:30 pm appointment so this was a terrible time for him to arrive). He told my husband that he can fix the leaking sprinkler head, but two of the sprinkler heads will no longer rotate. He blamed the original landscape installer and said that he could replace the non-rotating sprinkler heads, but would not warranty them unless we paid him to do a complete overhaul of our entire irrigation system, replacing it all with commercial-grade items (unnecessary for our 2500 sq ft of sod!). Needless to say, we were not interested in entering into further business commitments with this company.
My husband is planning to replace the sprinkler heads himself and we will contact another landscape company to assess our irrigation system (since we no longer trust Bugle Lawn & Landscaping's input).
- We have been using Bugle for two years now and have been really pleased. They go above and beyond what we expect and leave our property snow-free. They plow our driveway and shovel and ice-melt our walks. Would highly recommend!
