"Mr. [Member Name Removed]'s statements are false. We can prove it with supporting documentation. He filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and it was deleted after they reviewed our supporting documentation. However, Angie's List does not verify slanderous, untruthful statements as competently as the Better Business Bureau. Mr. [Member Name Removed] is trying to negotiate his bill by filing fraudulent complaints about our company. All of our charges were reviewed and approved by Mr. [Member Name Removed]'s insurance Carrier. We are required to submit photo documentation of each supplement that we invoice the Carrier for. He simply wanted to keep the money for personal use. I am truly sorry that we were not able to come to a resolution. However, he filed these complaints even after I explained that it is illegal to profit from an insurance claim under Senate Bill 38."
"[Member Name Removed], I am truly sorry for the communication issues with Craig. You put Greg, but we do not have a Greg and your Project Manager was Craig Chadderton. I terminated him in January of 2015 for not returning calls, emails, or texts among other serious customer service issues. You are not the first person to complain about Craig. You are one of many. Please contact me directly if there is anything that you need now or in the future. Jesse Russow/Owner"
All that said, the folks that came were the first to stop leaks that had been an on-going problem. They were thorough and profession.
Starting with the appraisal, we first called the last roofing company we used (Dave Ramsey?s recommended company) since they last replaced this roof a couple years ago, and they found ?little to no damage?. Well, having experienced this several times already, and having a great birds-eye view of the damage from our upstairs bedroom window, we knew something was fishy.
Since we felt very confident with the integrity and competence of Avalanche, we had them provide an inspection, finding extensive roof and siding damage, and substantiated by the insurance inspector. Amazing how two companies can come up with completely different inspection results within one week!
So next, Craig came to our house to draw up the estimate and contract. They provided us the best possible deal under the current Colorado laws concerning insurance deductibles. Not only did we get an upgraded quality in paint, but Craig also agreed to help with some repairs that had more to do with the really crappy quality siding on our house than with the actual hail damage itself. Just a really honest, helpful, and considerate individual. Even after the roofing portion was completed and the insurance company re-inspected and was completely satisfied, Craig provided the final company inspection and personally returned to make additional corrections on various roofing-related matters of which he wasn?t personally satisfied with the workmanship (although it looked fine to us).
The house painting portion of the repair was even better! You can really tell Clint and Kevin take every job personal and are so customer sensitive. They discussed our color selection with us (we drastically changed colors) and provided the advice we needed to make the absolute best decisions (we would have really regretted our first choice in color schemes). Then it just kept getting better. They repaired several portions of siding that were not even part of the contract, the patched every flaw,
filled every gap, primed under every siding board (the other companies merely painted over, resulting in progressing deterioration), reinforced two faucets I had improperly replaced and secured myself, added a couple ornamental pieces to
the peak areas (looks great), roughed up and painted our ugly brass house numbers, repainted our front door, and the list goes on and on. I can?t emphasis enough how professional and attentive these guy were. Not to mention how much
we love the paint quality how great our house looks now!
I would be remiss not to mention the other staff we had direct interaction with. The owner, Jesse, bends over backwards to make things right. It definitely reflects in the service and quality his employee?s demonstrate. Sheila and Tammy, the office specialists, tracked and closely communicated everything with our insurance company. We were made aware of everything that was repaired but not covered by our insurance company (although there wasn?t a lot), and they deducted each item from the final price. We didn?t pay a single penny we hadn?t agree to and covered by our insurance company. Although, I can honestly say, we believe we receive much more than the contract stipulated!
In the end, we have a much nicer home because of the attention, thoroughness, and personal consideration from the Avalanche staff. Dave Ramsey needs to check them out too!
Communication was VERY poor all around. It took forever to get a date of when the roof would be replaced and I had to keep asking constantly for an updated schedule of when it would be done.
After the roof was done communication got even worse. Apparently they do not think side jobs are important, they never completed my gutter work so I had to call and tell them to forget about it. To replace 7 screens on my windows it took months.... They also broke one of my field stone rocks, although this did get replaced eventually after constant contact and a letter threatening to contact the Better Business Bureau about incomplete work and broken property.
I talked to at least six different people in the company who all profusely apologized but then never did anything to fix the problem. They always blamed someone else for the issue instead of owning up to their lack of communication and professionalism.
It is now March 1st and they just now got the info to insurance for the second half of the insurance check. Absolutely ridiculous that it would take this long to complete work and a claim.
I am surprised this company has such good reviews on Angies List. I do not and will not ever recommend this company to anyone. STAY FAR AWAY.
EDIT:
In response to the note below from the company - Many of the details included (such as the timeline of replacing the rock) were absolutely not relayed to me during the time of this happening. Instead I was left waiting without knowledge of why. If I had been kept in contact with during the timeline, I would not have had as big of a problem. However I had to constantly call and speak to someone new every time since the original person I signed my contract with was apparently having 'family problems' and 'dropped the ball'... since he stopped communicating with me completely after he received the first insurance check. Thus I had absolutely no consistent contact to bring my problems up to and was left in the dark during the entire six months I dealt with this company. All I heard and continue to hear are excuses.
Again, I would not recommend.
"We’re very sorry that this customer wasn’t happy with the timeline of the project. We strive to make all of our customers happy and have a 98.5% customer satisfaction rate here at Avalanche. While the increased volume last year due to the hail storms did push our scheduling out farther than we anticipated, we stayed in contact with all of our customers throughout the process and got every job completed as fast as possible. While this customer wasn’t happy with the timeline, the roofing portion of this particular project was completed in almost the exact amount of time we originally quoted. We track all of our projects in our computer system, including communications with customers, and the following is an extremely accurate timeline of this project: On Saturday, 9/21/13 the contract was signed and the customer was informed that we were 3 weeks out on roofing (written on the contract), weather permitting, of course. The materials needed for the job were ordered on 9/24 and delivered to roof top on 9/25. On Fri. 9/27 we called the customer and were informed they were waiting for the first check to come back from the mortgage company. Standard practice is to deliver materials, collect first half of payment, complete all work, send final billing to insurance, then collect second half of payment. On 10/5 we received first payment and put the roof on the schedule for 10/14, right at the 3 week mark. The weather didn’t cooperate, and we had unsuitable weather conditions for roofing from 10/14 thru 10/19 - no roofing could be performed due to temperature, wind conditions, and some rain. The roof was completed the next good weather day, Monday 10/21, which was 3 working weeks (4 calendar weeks) from signing the contract – exactly what we told this customer when they signed the contract. On 10/22 we were informed that during the project a large rock in the walkway was broken, we went out the same day to look at it, apologized to the customer for the mistake, and told them that we would take responsibility for it and get it replaced, but finding an exact color matched field stone of that size may take some time. The first stone took until 11/25 to be located and was brought out to their home on 12/1, however the color match wasn’t close enough to the surrounding rocks. Another stone was located on 12/13, which unfortunately broke during delivery. The third stone was located on 12/19 and installed the same day. As for the gutters, on 11/14 as we approached installation day, we were told by the customer they did not want their gutters replaced because they couldn’t see the damage from the ground, so we cancelled the install. Then on 12/2 they decided they just wanted the downspout extensions replaced, so we put them back on the schedule. On 12/28, just 2 days before installation day, we were again told to cancel those too. That meant that Avalanche completed the work 90 day mark – when screens were re-installed on 12/20, with the exception of the furnace vent cap, which we have to sub-contract out to a licensed HVAC company in order to comply with local building codes. Our HVAC sub completed their portion on 1/17, the soonest we could get them to replace it. Final billing was sent to the insurance company on 1/20 and we confirmed that they received it on 1/21. Beyond sending the final invoice to insurance companies, we have no control over how long it takes them to review them and release their final payments. We did follow up with them on 1/28, 2/17, and 2/28 and each time we were told it was still in the process of being reviewed and final payment would be issued after the insurance review was complete, something no contractor has control over."
