Very bad. It was originally estimated to be a 4 day job. After 3 days they had only completed a few rows. They would come and work for a few hours and leave. I wa wanted the same flooring throughout the home. It had laminate flooring in the kitchen and carpet on the rest. Instead of removing the old kitchen flooring they tried to be lay the new floor over it. This of course resulted in the floor being uneven. I called they sent new guys ( that were great) but they took the floor apart and relayed it which resulted in some chipped edged. I a few at first but after a year many. They never installed the matching edge pieces for the closets. Over more than a year I called several times and was told someone would come up and finish it. The owner David made several excuses and lies, I tried to act like I believed him because I just wanted my floor done.

I really liked the showroom. The owner does a great upfront sales job. Unfortunately, some of the contractors were a little hit or miss. The work was excellent, though. Overally, it was a good experience.

Roy came by to give the estimate, he was very friendly and professional. The installer Keith came by to do the work, again he seemed very professional. However the floor looks AWFUL! Where the new hardwood is installed, there are cracks between the the seams, and the wood is uneven - you can feel it every time you walk on it. The color is blotchy - there are areas with dark spots and light spots. I had another wood person look at it and he stated the it looked like it was finished with faulty equipment. On some areas of the floor it feels bumpy - wasn't that way before. I have stopped and called the store numerous times asking someone to do a quality control check. No one has bothered to stop by or return my calls. I stopped by again this weekend, they took my information and said Roy would be getting back with me, I hope so. I am determined to get my floor fixed - I did a kitchen remodel and the floor is ruining the effect.

I was very pleased with the sub contractor. They did the tile and they did good work. They were high in price but they did quality work and did not have to come back and redo anything.
Response from AUSTIN BLUFFS FLOORING
"We do not understand why this customer would not hire us again if they were very pleased with both the tile and wood project. They said we did quality work and that we did not have to come back and redo anything. I think this is what every customer is trying to accomplish and we did just what they requested. We thank this customer for the wonderful compliment about our business."

Installation of the vinyl floor in the bathroom took two attempts. With the first installation there was a very obvious, irregular seam in the middle of the floor. The owners were very good about fixing this and the second installation looks very good. Installation of the unfinished flooring and stairs went well. The problems came when the stain and finish were applied. The first time they said the job was complete we pointed out the tracks left by someone's work boots in the finish. They agreed to fix it which required removing and then reapplying the finish. This second attempt turned out worse. They made some mistake in between staining and applying the sealer because there are streaks in the floor where the stain color is obviously lighter. These streaks run across multiple boards in many areas and simply are not natural variation. The owners seemed like nice people and I'm sure they meant it at the start of the job when they said that they would make sure we were happy before accepting final payment but that turned out to be not true. When I pointed out the streaks in the color they said there was nothing wrong with the finish and that they couldn't refinish it again because they would be loosing money. Another flooring company tells me it looks like someone used an oil based stain and didn't allow it to dry before putting on the water based finish and the only way to fix it is to sand it down to bare wood and start again. After 20 years in the military and seeing some interesting parts of this world, I certainly know there are more important things in life than a wood floor but it's a little disappointing to spend $10,000 and year after year see this poor quality work in my house.
Response from AUSTIN BLUFFS FLOORING
"We are stunned and shocked that after 5 years with a completion certificate and final payment that a customer can go to a site such as this and complain. We believe that there should be a site to alert businesses about customers."

They specifically said that there would be no gaps between the boards on the floor, but there are many gaps that a US nickel will fit through. This was the worst contractor experience of our lives. We've been dealing with them about the problems since the work was completed in August of 2008, but still no resolution.
Response from AUSTIN BLUFFS FLOORING
"The customer had a beautiful floor & loved it to the extent they signed off and paid for the floor. The customer loved the floor so much they even tipped the installation crew for the good job completed. The facts became a complaint 10-11 months after the customer had extensively remodeled their interior with plastering, textured, painting, and wall paper steaming removal that totally distorted and raised the humidity level in their home to extreme levels as indicated indicated in the attached letter so consequently the wood shrank and grew with the humidity levels. The customer even admitted to this process and is not an issue concerning Austin Bluffs Flooring. Again, reference our response back in May 2009 from the representative of the wood supplier who stated the same. The customer is misrepresenting the real facts. The flooring is produced from all industry standards and what happened months after the installation is not the responsibility of Austin Bluffs Flooring, but is regrettable. Under a normal interior remodel situation the flooring is the very last item to be completed by any contractor because of extreme humidity. Normal scheduling would have prevented such a situation. With the exception of the broken molding (20 years old and difficult to replace to match) in the bathroom, and the bit of a mess from the tile crew, I am completely satisfied. Here's the awesome part: The floor installation crew tried to rectify the molding issue from the tile crew! And did a pretty good job of it! So, all in all, it came out ok in that bathroom. Our hardwood floors look totally WOW! They were put in on the main level. What a bargain. Carpet, tile, hardwood floor. All for $12000. Everywhere else we got an estimate was well over $17000 to start!
