He will say that It was because i ordered the materials and some boards where warped which was true but all he had to do is tell me and I could have replaced them with strait ones but he used them anyways. After the fact he told me that usually he picks them out on by one to ensure they are straight but he didn't tell me up front when we were talking materials. Any professional would have done that.
"There is actually very little truth in this review. [member name removed] hired me to replace decking, joists, and ledger board of his existing deck. He was hell bent on getting a 10% military discount from me and from the store where the materials were bought. (Even though he is not active duty, I still gave him the discount.) I informed [member name removed] AT THE TIME that it was best if I handpicked materials instead of him just placing an order over the phone so I could handpick the best lumber for the job. I even offered to go and handpick the materials WITH him to insure the boards were straight and not warped. I also informed him at the time that when a telephone order was placed the crews at the store just put any board on pallet and get rid of any boards that have not sold previously. [member name removed] insisted doing it over the phone and had me pick up the order as well so he wouldn't have to pay for a delivery charge. I replaced all the joists, ledger board and decking of his deck to the best of my ability with the materials he provided. [member name removed] signed several contracts with me that I am more than willing to share with anyone. One was a client agreement stating I cannot guarantee or warranty any materials I have not purchased. One was a not to exceed agreement in which he handwrote an addendum on which was assuring he was going to get a military discount, even though the discount was already included in the not to exceed agreement, shorting me $200.00. The last contract was the description of work which did not include handrails! (All of these documents I will gladly provide for ANYONE!) Furthermore, I informed [member name removed] that the stairs leading to his deck, and his handrails on the deck needed to be replaced! All other contractors who looked at this job before I did had informed [member name removed] that the entire deck would need to be torn down and replaced. I was the only one that would replace just the decking, joists, and ledger board against my better judgement. (I lived and learned on that one.) [member name removed] was taking advantage of a very small business from the very beginning! When I tried to collect payment, he informed me of one spot on the decking he wasn't happy with and I went and replaced it. (After he finally paid me.) And yes, after several arguments over the phone I had to eventually go to my attorney and send him a letter of intent. (You have to send an intent to file a lien 10 days before you can actually file that lien. Which I wouldn't have known without a lawyer.) [member name removed] is a drunk who was trying to get something for nothing, and without legal help I wouldn't have gotten paid for my week's worth of work."
"This member is bi polar and absolutely insane. After too many after hours calls and texts, 20 texts in one minute, I informed her I would finish her project with the shower, adjust the wall, and then I would no longer do any work for her. She started out accusing me of being threatening, and then 10 minutes later was BEGGING me to come back, and then 10 minutes later saying she was feeling threatened again! Since when do you use spacers on 4 x 4 tile that has their own spacers? How do you lay tile without cutting tile? She wants a miracle in the worst basement bathroom I have ever seen, and I had to step over dog poop and sleeping teenagers to even get in the bathroom! This is why nobody else would take her job! Furthermore, I wasted almost 2 full days, without any pay, shopping with her and assuring her of what could be done! She was making me use old and used material from the habitat for humanities restore, store, and I provided over $60.00 of my own material free of charge!!! I have already warned all my fellow contractors about this member and her insanity."
