ACI showed up on time and on the original schedule date. The first day they did the demo of the old fence and cleaned up all debris as well as getting the holes dug and posts set in concrete. On day 2 they built the gates and put up all the pickets. I was very impressed with how efficiently they worked and the level of professionalism. We have 2 dogs so it was great to hire a company that got the job done in a timely manner and stayed on schedule. I would definetly hire them again in the future for any of our construction needs

During the stain/spraying process they insisted my cars would be fine left out of doors.  I was told they would cover the cars, mine and a relatives, with plastic.  This was not done.  As a result a permanent fine mist was left on both cars,  unable to be cleaned.
In May of this year 2012, The wind blew down a large section of my fence.  I tried to contact them by calling their cell phone and office phone.  I e-mailed and never received the courtesy of a call back.  I thought they had gone out of business.

They were very professional and did the work in just a couple of days. The deck is beautiful, and they suggested a few minor changes that made the deck even more 'upscale' at little more cost. When I had an issue with a board warping (due to the support beam shrinking a bit),they came out the day after I called and corrected the issue. No hassle.
I would definitely use them on future projects and recommend to friends.

I will start by saying I am satisfied with the quality of the work and the end product.  My "downgrades" are a result of my frustration with the final bill.  It was nealy $600 dollars above the original bid.  The final bill did not list an item by item change fee.  It simply lumped them into a brief statement refering to "repaired sprinkler lines, replace/paint house siding and door trim, adding a support beam, adding a 45 degree angle to a corner".
I was not present when the work was completed but apparently at 3 different times they cut one of my underground sprinkler system lines.  In the post job discussion I was told the fine print in my contract stated they were not responsible for sprinkler lines since no one could tell them where they are.  Fair enough, bad on me for not reading the fine print.  However, 3 times gives me the impression that they do not even make an attempt to avoid/locate the lines by digging their footing holes carefully.
As far as replacing the house siding, door trim and adding a support beam.  In my mind that should have been included in the original bid.  The house siding where the deck connected to the house was clearly damaged and in need of replacing when the deck was removed.  That was easily seen and we discussed it when he did the site visit prior to writing the bid.  It did not change. (I provided the paint.)  The door trim did not need replacing when the job was started.  I can only assume that it was broken in the demolition process.  When we returned home there was a new unpainted trim board installed (which I primed and painted).  The additional support beam is also something I would have expected him to realize in advance and factor into a bid.  Unless the additional support beam refers to the corner (described next) in which case I don't see it as a change in material required merely a reorientation of a corner post and a 3 foot beam.
The change to the corner may also have been my mistake for not clarifying the project description.  The deck looks exactly like I envisioned it, but the builder claims that one of the corners being cut to a 45 degree angle was not what he understood when he wrote the bid.  Therefore more material was required.  When he came for his preconstruction visit I walked him through the project again because we were going to be out of town when the construction was taking place.  I described the layout of the deck and he did convey the feeling that he was not planning for a 45 degree angle to be added to one corner of the deck to make it symetrical to the other.  His response was "I can do that", he did not mention that would be an addtional cost and I did not assume that because I cannot picture what he anticipated building, but don't see how cutting a corner added to the overall cost of the project.
They did quality work but I would strongly recommend getting drawings to ensure that you are in complete agreement about what will be done as well as have a discussion about what types of activities would increase the cost of your project.

Archer was very responsive and up front during all phases of the project. He kept us updated on progress and also explained any delays and/or changes. I will not think twice to go back to ACI Construction again.

The problem was material related, not workmanship. There was a problem with it and on their own dime, they came back and took the deck apart and rebuilt it with new materials. Now the deck is sturdy and very functional. They are punctual and keep you informed. They are very efficient.
