Abba's Construction

When I found him on Angie's list he only had two reviews. When he was done here I went online to post the review and the two good reviews that he had were gone and there was one bad review. A lot of the work that he did has to be done over because he did it wrong. He installed a window wrong. The grout that he used was the wrong kind, so it cracked. Everything that he did was very poor and he was very unprofessional. He was never on time. He damaged parts of the house that he was not supposed to be in. Some of the work he did was okay. I would not use them again.

The roof seemed to go o.k. but there were many delays and he was always involved with other projects that took him away from ours. His workers had a hard time communicating in English. When the project was completed they did a very poor job cleaning up and I am still finding nails in my driveway and flower beds two years later. My husband and I spent many days raking our driveway (it is not paved) and going over it with magnets to pick up the nails. The stucco began to crack within 6 months but repeated calls to the contractor did not result in any calls back. 
Mr Villarruel is very friendly and quotes good prices but his guarantees are worthless. I would not recommend him for any type of work.

Jose and his team were excellent!  He came highly recommended and he didn't disappoint.  We needed the renovation to start as soon as possible so we could meet the schedule of moving out of our old house.  Jose called and was able to start a week earlier than we had scheduled, which was extremely helpful.
He started on a Monday and got right to work. When I stopped by the house I was amazed at the amount of work he and his team had accomplished in just one day.  Jose posted a list on the wall of work to be accomplished and kept it updated with notes and progress, so we
always knew exactly where he was schedule-wise and knew what expect and when materials would arrive.  Jose also took the time every day to talk to us and explain the progress and what to expect in the coming days.  He always answered all of our questions and made sure we were completely satisfied before he left for the day.
Progress flowed continually and logically throughout the following weeks of construction.  There was substantial progress every day and each member of Jose's team was very polite, neat and personable.  You could tell Jose and each member of his team really took pride in their work and they treated our house as if it were their house. Countless times, Jose told us that his #1 priority was to make sure we were happy and completely satisfied with the work being done.  He knew it wasn't just a job and a paycheck, but an investment in our home and in our
future. You could tell he really took that seriously and it was very much appreciated.
Jose made sure that we were involved every step of the way.  He would often meet us as at a local hardware store to pick out finishes and products that we wanted installed.  When we told him we wanted a particular vanity for the bathroom, he searched all over the city and finally found one in a town 30 miles away!  It was incredible; he literally went out of his way to make sure we were completely satisfied.
We bought our house with an FHA 203(k) loan to finance the renovation.  FHA inspects the house before any work is done, reviews the contractor's estimate of work to be done, and signs off on whether or not the work will be adequate to bring the house up to FHA standards. Once the work was complete, we still had to pass an FHA inspection to make sure everything was adequate.  We were very confident in Jose's work and extremely happy with what he had done, but we were still slightly nervous for the FHA inspection because you know what to expect in an inspection like that.
The inspector came through and was BLOWN AWAY with the transformation of the house!  He was extremely impressed with the quality of work and the care and craftsmanship that went into it.  It was literally like a different house.  The purchase price was about $168K and we got a loan for about $200K to pay for the renovation.  After the inspection, the inspector said the house was absolutely incredible and estimated it would sell for about $250K!  Thanks to Jose's hard work, we basically had about $50K instant equity.
All of our new neighbors have stopped by just RAVING about the work that was done.  Our house went from the ugliest, worst on the block to absolutely the nicest and the best.  Our Realtor who sold us the house was equally blown away when he saw the finished product.  Every single person who sees the before and after are just incredulous.  I cannot give Jose props enough.
He is a very busy contractor, so it may take some time to get on his schedule, but don't get frustrated or upset.  He is busy because he is genuinely nice, honest and really takes pride in his work.  We have recommended him to two friends now and they are equally happy with his work - they thank us for referring him to them.  Any work we may need done in the future will be done by Jose and his team.  We won't ever call another contractor because their work is of the highest quality and they are very competent in virtually all areas.  If they need to bring in a subcontractor, they are very discerning.  We are equally happy with the subcontractors that Jose occasionally used.
Thanks Jose!  You've turned a house desperately in need of much TLC into a home that we look forward to living in and raising our family for decades to come!

Jose responded to my call for a price quote within two days and fixed a starting date.  There were delays as work progressed, but not the fault of Jose.  We discovered unexpected problems.  This is a 1960's house.  We found things that were not up to code, doors that were odd sized and had to be custom made, siding that was not a standard color, etc.  I watched the construction as it progressed and was impressed with the quality of materials and workmanship.  Jose does not cut corners and insists on following the building code.  He is genuinely concerned that the client be satisfied and happy with the project.

Start to finish, Jose is a pleasure to work with; he is professional, competent, courteous, knowledgeable, experienced, friendly.  Budget was an issue for us and Jose helped us chose a treated douglas fir for our deck.  We met to go over my scale drawing, asking and answering questions.  My plans went to his designer.  Jose submitted the detailed bid via email and we accepted it.  Jose allowed us to work alongside in order for us to lay rock under the deck before they began work.  Although Jose has two work crews, he fit our deck in to his busy schedule by doing the work himself along with two very competent associates.  Jose obtained the necessary house plans from Regional Building and then did all of the work to obtain and manage the building permit.  (We could have saved ourselves a small charge if we had the footprint already on hand.)  Our AC unit had to be relocated and one exterior faucet raised.  The work progressed quickly.  Jose is easy to work with.  Communication was clear and prompt;ly, although we probably drove him a little crazy with our endless questions.  Jose was patient in explaining every step.  The three required inspections went off without a hitch.We LOVE our deck!We highly recommend Jose and Abbas Construction for your next project.  We intend to call him when we're ready for our next project.

I am THRILLED with the service I received from Jose and his team. I can't praise them enough. After getting completely blown off by another fencing company with good reviews (twice!), I called Jose on Friday afternoon. Based on the needed repair, he gave me an initial estimate over the phone of $85 (compared to the other company’s $170 estimate, which seemed very high). I mentioned that I thought the sprinkler may be leaking, but I wasn't sure.
Jose was able to start the repair the following Tuesday. In addition to doing a fantastic job with the foundation and adding a tube around the concrete, he also took the extra step of shortening the sprinkler line slightly. He also noticed the head was loose so he added Teflon tape and re-secured the sprinkler to stop the leak.
When I offered to pay extra for the sprinkler items, he graciously denied. Jose is kind, very cordial, pays attention to details and you can tell he genuinely cares about the success of the job (and his customers). I'm very detail oriented as well and have had multiple, recent instances of installers that did a half-assed job trying to cut corners (even on the third and fourth visit). Jose's professionalism was a breath of fresh air. Kudos!

Abbas Construction was wonderful to work with.  This was the first time I have had to deal with the insurance carrier for this type of claim and Abbas helped me understand what was happening every step of the way.  Abbas was always available for questions and helped me pick out the color and type of material for the roof.  The roofing crew was very professional and quick.  They started early AM and were done by midafternoon. I am very pleased with my new roof it looks great.  My overall experience with Abbas Construction was wonderful.  I plan on having a cover built for the back porch and my basement finished sometime in the future and I will definitely be calling on Abba's Construction to help me out.

There was about a 3 week delay from the initial proposal until work started due mostly to not being able to coordinate our schedules to approve the proposal.

To get things rolling again, I called Jose on a Monday, he came right over and we sat down and agreed to some fine tuning of the estimate and he scheduled the job to start the next day. The next day Jose and his two man crew came out and did 95% of the job. Because fence posts had to be replaced, a day was needed to let the concrete footings set up, so the crew returned the next day to complete the fence repair. The last part of the job, finish painting of the siding and site cleanup, was done on Friday.

I am very happy with the completed work. Jose and his crew were very friendly and personable and overcame some unexpected difficulties related to aging siding with a professionalism that was greatly appreciated. I've already scheduled some additional work to be done by them.

They were very quick. They did everything they were supposed to do and they charge me the rate that they estimated. They did a great job.  I am going to retain him to build an entire section of fence whenever I can afford it.   

They did a great job.  I spent around $1800 on that service.  Their price was competitive and the owner’s whose stay was really engaging.  He was a down-to-earth guy and he got right on the job.  They were friendly, professional and they did a good clean up afterwards, so all in all it was a very professional and pleasant interaction.  I would definitely use them again.  I thought that the pricing was very fair.

Jose is the absolute best choice for a General Contractor to complete any  work project you have at your home or business!!  We found his quotes for work  to be very competitive and reasonable. The quality of work that was performed by Jose and his crew was at a very high level.  Jose has very high levels of expectations regarding the quality of work performed by himself or his crew.

First and foremost, we have found Jose to be a very honest, knowledgeable, and hard-working person.  He attended to large and very small details in completing the work on our home, as though our home was his.  We believe that his goal was to do the best job possible for us.  He accomplished his goal and ours!  We found Jose to be very personable and easy to work with.  He answered, with patience, any and all questions we had, and sometimes we had alot of them. 

Secondly, as a General Contractor, Jose has a broad base of past work experience and knowledge to easily complete our home projects.  This gave him a decided edge over  other companies!   We found him to have very high expec tations on the quality of work that his crew completed.  When necessary, he would have them attend to areas that needed extra attention.

It will be our intention  to recommend Jose and his crew to our family, friends and neighbors for any home projects.  I know that he would treat them as well as he did us.  In the future, any work we have done to the house, Jose will be the first person we call.

Everything went fine from beginining to end.

 All in all a very good job by the company. The new posts were quickly placed and set with up to date quick set cement and the pickets aligned perfectly with the existing fence. Alll the work was clean and professional.

Jose and his crew did a good job on my privacy fence.  I would use them again.

As you can surmise, we are extremely pleased with the finished project, and consider Jose to be a great friend.  We wholeheartedly recommend him for any work that you need done around your home.

Very easy to deal with, did excellent work.  Did exactly what he said he would do. Very professional manner. We are going to use Abba's for additional work on the house and highly recommend them to all our friends.

I decided to take action on the broken fence after the neighbor's dog came into the back yard and chased one of my cats around.  Jose came out as soon as he could and measured off 21.4  linear feet with a 3 foot return. That was on a Monday.  Jose could start on a Wednesday.  Jose kept me current with weather delays so that there were no surprises.  Jose kept on working in spite of interference from the neighbor.  Jose was flexible enough to change from cedar posts to steel posts AFTER the estimate was in place.  The resulting fence looks great.

They were the most professional general contractors that I have ever dealt with and I have dealt with many. First they powerwashed and restained our fence. They made sure that insurance covered both sides of our fence from the hail damage. They they replaced our roof within one day. We are going to hire them to work on basement and add insulation next. After that we are thinking of hiring them to fix our concrete driveway. I will be calling them for everything from now on. I can't say enough good things about them. Through the whole process Jose wanted to make sure that they were meeting our expectations. They were always on time and did what they said they were going to do
