H & R BLOCK TAX SVC

I and spouse didn't think we were provided with clear interpretation of some aspects and parts of our 2014 return.  For example, we incurred a $23,000 capital gains LOSS in 2009 (payable in 2010) -- and found out that you can only deduct $3000 per year from that as capital gain: Losses.  So ... this tax year we should have had ~ $8600 remaining from which $3000 would be deducted on Schedule D for cap losses.  We asked where this was and our accountant made an explanation, 2 or 3 times (3 times?) which neither of us understood.  Same with my out-of-pocket costs for an educational course I took.  The course cost $845 which was on one of the tax forms, but I was led to believe that ALL associated costs were also deductible.  I spent many hundreds ( ~ $2800 including the 845) but that larger amount was not on any form nor considered as deductible.  Like I said, I was led to believe that this would be deductible.  Our medical expenses were pretty high -- almost $2800 (includes 2 pairs of glasses and $900 to join a non-insurance medical 'collective' in addition to my employer-provided insurance, not included here nor my personal contribution to that insurance.  Med insurance is not deductible, right?)  Our out-of-pocket medical expenses were $4900 + !  shouldn't that be, if not totally, partially deductible???  (Hint:  our combined income was NOT '6 figures' -- nor even that close to 6 figures)
We may go back to H&R in the future, but not to the office nor person we had this year.
