The cost was almost $1,500.00 more than estimated ($2,715.00 original estimate). Refinishing was a challenging task and the quality was pretty good. There were two pieces and one was lighter than the other and bubbles are in the finish. Painting French Doors. They did a good job, but had to request that they clean up the edges and of course they charged me at $65/hr to finish that part of the job. Shelving Rebuild not the best quality. The shelving was nicked up and the particle board edging was exposed. So there is paint patch work that is obvious and not a nice clean job. I would say the refinishing piece was probably the best quality as I know it can be a tough job, but the shelving was done cheaply for top dollar. I will say that when I expressed my frustration the company did deduct $200 from the bill.

"Our estimate was very clear that it was for one coat of Paint on the banisters. Homeowner wanted Multiple coats and we told her that It was going to be extra before we moved forward. She in addition wanted a custom color which we provided. She told us she was very happy with the work. Homeowner wanted us to re-use materials on an entertainment center and then paint. We explained that if we re-used their would be holes showing and we should use new materials. She agreed. She asked us to continue with the extra work and agreed to pay for it. We worked very hard to keep this within the estimated price however we specifically said estimate was for 1 coat of prime and paint and we had 3 coats that the homeowner agreed to pay extra time and materials for. Estimate is included."

Roberts Home Repair came out the same day. They knew we were in a time crunch (range was in the middle of the kitchen) and they responded quickly. The guy did a great job and was very helpful.

Needed a hanging light replaced over my stair well that was about 17 feet from the landing. Very tricky situation. They were super quick to respond to my email request and came out within a few hours. Very courteous and knowledgeable tech. I'm very happy with the communication, service, and price. I won't hesitate to call them in the future.

I called Roberts Home Repair at 4pm. They sent Bob out to our house by 5pm. He had to search our basement to find the reason there was no power. He searched for almost two hours. He located an improper junction box hidden in the drywall that had loose connections. Once he found the problem, he was finished in about 15 minutes. I'm pretty handy, but this is something I would have NEVER found as a homeowner/DIYer. He was able to properly mount the junction box, secure the wires, and mount a coverplate. He only charged for 2 hours labor. I was very, very pleased with this company. I would use them again.

Excellent work. Would recommend this company.  I needed someone rather quickly due to changing weather.  I was recommended by a friend and had a quick response and repair.

Called several contractors and Roberts ' estimate involved the least damage to existing bath.  Brian arrived on time and was able to replace the pan without having to tear out more than two rows of tile.  Did the plumbing work and most of tile work in one day (9hrs) and came back for 3 hrs next day to finishing tile and grout work.  I will use them again.

It was good.  There was a bit of a communication problem between them and us as far the person coming to do the work because they weren’t here the times they were supposed to be and sometimes they would show up and we wouldn’t know they were coming, so that was a bit of a problem.

The work was done in a timely manner.  All aspects were done in a professional way.  The end results were a beautiful and quality backsplash with clean up done in a pristine manner.

The only problem we had was there was sometimes a lack of communication between the scheduling, the worker(s), and us.  We would think the workers were coming, and they weren't, or they would show up when we weren't planning on them being here.  All in all things went well, and the quality of their work was very good.  We would not hesitate to use them again.  They seem to be able to do a lot of different things, from inside the house, outside, and on exterior buildings.

"Thanks for your nice review, your right about the communication issue, the guys were not checking into the office, we have since reviewed that and taken care of the issue. Thank you you were a pleasure to work with"

"We received a call for an estimate to run a dedicated electrical line and member was in a hurry to get the work done. We sent out a subcontractor who we have worked with many times he told him Time and Materials and wrote it up the estimate, We did the work and member paid the estimated price. The actual Time it took was higher than the estimate but we stood by the estimated price and reduced the invoice. Our subcontractor reduced his hours. The price to run a dedicated electrical line was much lower than any other contractor in the area. After the job was completed Member said we could have gotten a better price on materials if we would not have purchased a whole roll of wire. He demanded a refund of $200.00 on the wire. We send him price comparisons showing the price difference from the store we got the materials from. the difference would have been much higher if we would have purchased the wire per wire price. Our price was $1000.00 for Labor and Materials. He agreed to the price and paid the price quoted and then demanded a refund when he thought we charged too much. Our sub contractor contacted him as did we. He was very happy with the work and thought it was done very well, he agreed to the price and paid the price and when we wouldn’t reduce the price any further after we proved to him we had saved him money he sent this review. We have all the backup and will be happy to discuss"

The technician arrived on time.  He removed the existing door, prepped the jamb for a new door and installed  the new door with the existing hardware.  The job took 3 hours.  He was polite and professional and the door works great.

At first the wiring was wrong on the fan, but he came right back out to fix it. Both items have worked great for a year now. The fan they chose is very good.

Everything went well.  Ray made sure that the caulk would be waterproof because of threatening skies.  The only thing I didn't like is that when I first called to schedule the work I was told the charge would be $50 per hour.  After I said I got their name from Angie's list the price became $55 an hour.  Even though there is a coupon for a 5% discount on labor I still end up paying more because of being an Angie's member!
Response from Robert's Home Repair
"Our coupons are to be presented at time work is done. We did give the discount and we came back at no charge the next day with materials. Thanks for your business"

Moving of the door went fairly well.  The door was only roughed in on the inside - I thought for sure they would at least finish the inside s between the door jam and the wall wasn't rough.  The outside of the door looks good but not the inside in the utility closet.  The guys showed up on time, cleaned up their mess and finished early.
The issue was with billing.  I recieved a rough estimate from Mary for the work to be done.  I requested an itemized estimate so I knew specifically what i was billed for and for what charges.  Mary got upset with me when I asked for an itemized bill.  I couldn't perform the work for a month later so Mary revised the estimate and tacked on additional man hours.  When I asked what the additional charges were for she was rude with me about it stating that materials & man hours went up.  I asked specifically what went up and Mary got ticked for me asking.  I still contracted with them to move the door.
The guys were great however...  i specifically stated to Rob I wanted a wall piece he was removing for another project.  He never stated the piece wouldn't work for another project and he removed the piece from my property without permission.  Rob proceeded to put that piece in the dumpster and charged me $25 dump fees.  I noted to Mary, that for one I didn't agree to any dump fees on the estimate and two I wanted that piece of material.  Mary argued with me stating the dump fee was in the estimate - THANKFULLY i got a itemized estimate which did NOT have an estimate for any dump fee on there.  Mary eventually took the dump charge off.
Mary sent me THREE invoices with one fee then a FOURTH invoice with a larger fee stating they didn't realize they forgot materials.   When I got the fouth invoice with higher amount owed, I asked for copies of the material bills from Home Depot since Mary stated that they charge "Actual Charges" for materials.  Mary could not produce the bills for the materials from HOme Depot, only a hand written "bill" - one from the guy that picked up the materials at home depot and a second from a worker guy that DID NOT PURCHASE ANY MATERIALS!  I felt like Mary was retaliating and adding additional fees because of the reducation in dump fees and me questioning the man hours that I was charged.  I paid the additional fees as it was listed but be CAUTIOUS!  ASK for an itemized estimate with EVERYTHING on it and an itemized Invoice with everything on it so you know exactly what you are paying for.
I will never use them again because of them up charging for the work.  Mary tried to say "we didn't charge you for the estimate and we completed the work early - you could pay the estimated charges"  well for one - you can't bill for work you didn't perform - If you weren't there for 12 hours you can't bill me for 12 hours of work!  And Mary advertised FREE ESTIMATES so of course she can't charge me for an estimate.
Also the company advertises a 5% Angies List discount off the $50 labor however the final bill NEVER reflected the discount.
Response from Robert's Home Repair
"We remain utterly confused by this report as we’ve done other work for this member on multiple occasions and they’ve been very pleased. Even after this job she told our workers she was satisfied when they left, especially when the job came in at $200 below the estimated price that she has signed and agreed to and paid 1/2 down on. She wanted one side of the door trimmed out & the side with the brick molding left without trim. The pictures the member posted are either a different door that we did not work on or the work we did has been changed or tampered with as this is not how we left the job and are happy to provide pictures if asked. We agree there are 3 sides to every story however many of her comments in the review are severely exaggerated if not completely untrue. We repeatedly offered to return at no cost to please this member as we enjoyed working for her before. She would not give a clear response as to what she wanted us to do. We regret our relationship ended this way as we actually like repeat business and strive for 100% customer satisfaction. We expressed to her and were more than willing to go out of our way to fix whatever she felt went wrong. Unfortunately, after multiple failed attempts to figure out what we could do to fix this member’s experience, we simply have to move on. We are happy to answer any questions regarding this member’s report but encourage you to look to our other A-rated reviews for a more accurate representation of what it’s like to work with us."

I have used their services before on another project and was happy with their professionalism, promptness, and quality of work.  As before, I was not disappointed.  Rob came out and changed the weather stripping on an exterior door and adjusted the door.  It looks perfect and works perfect now.  I had an ugly brass foyer light that I had him change out with an updated light.  He managed each project very quickly, cleaned up any messes and was extremely polite.

Ray was prompt, knowledgable and very helpful. He completed the repair and the tile installation in the expected time and offered to come back if any of the little tiles were loose --he said it's hard to get them all to stick. But they were all good, I grouted the tile and it looks great.
