We were recently saved from a disastrous tile installation in our newly constructed home by the owner of Universal Flooring, Chuck Aldrich. We had 1500 square feet of tile flooring plus 3 baths with improperly laid tile. The tile floors had excessive lippage with crooked and uneven grout lines...plumb and level did not exist. The curbless showers had no slope and the sides were so uneven that glass shower doors could not be installed. The reveal around shower fixtures was up to 1/2" and filled with caulk. Toilets did not sit flat on the floors. We had two tile contractors refuse such a big job before Chuck. Chuck came to our rescue. He assessed the situation, gave us a reasonable bid and came to study the project twice before beginning the job. He assured us that he would not abandon us as so many had done. He had to strip all bathrooms and floors back to studs and sub floors. Needless to say it was difficult and messy. Chuck worked carefully with us to stage the project and allow us to remain in our home. He was meticulous and respectful, keeping the worksite clean and the portion of the house we were living in free of debris and dust...a heroic accomplishment. He was equally meticulous about reinstalling the tile. He made knowledgeable suggestions, always insisting on doing the job correctly. He reframed all the showers, replaced all underlayment and infloor heat and installed proper waterproofing, all of which had been done incorrectly. A large part of the flooring had cabinets and silestone installed on top of it. There was NO damage done to existing cabinets or anything else in our home. It was an impecable job. This was a colossal job that took months to complete. The job was done with respect for our home and for us. Chuck was always a gentleman and the job was completed on time and on budget. Chuck Aldrich was our savior and we would unhesitatingly recommend him for any tile work.
