Although our agent was professional and did her best, the owner of the real estate office she worked at, was the buyers agent. I would think that would be a conflict of interest. However, at the end, after we included a freezer and a truck in the deal, the owner of the real estate company got angry that we wouldn't move up the time of the closing. The new owner wanted to have a Direct TV man come and install the satellite system for her and she wanted to have carpet cleaners in, both right around noon. We had set up the closing for 2:00 pm because we were going to check into a motel for the night and had no place for the dogs to go until we checked into the motel. Most motels have a three o'clock check in, but we arranged for an earlier check in. We didn't want the dogs in the car for an hour while we signed the closing papers as it was very hot outside. The owner of the real estate company then did a walk thru with the new owner and called to say the house was trashed. It wasn't trashed, the carpets needed to be cleaned and the walls needed to be washed. He then had our agent call us to say that they wouldn't close unless we gave them $500.00 to have the carpets cleaned and the walls washed. Isn't this a form of extortion? Didn't she already plan to have the carpets cleaned? Her parents were in the house the weekend before we closed and they all knew we had three dogs. I'm pretty sure the new owner wasn't behind any of this. I have heard from several other people in the area where we lived, that the real estate company owner was a bully. But of course we didn't hear about this until we had our own experience with him. I liked our agent, but with him bullying his own people, I don't think she had a chance to really represent us to the extent we should have been represented.
