I found out about PC City a few months ago when the church I worked for had the server's hard drive completely crash. The church's and quot;normaland quot; IT guy had our server for a week and had yet to do anything to get us back up and running, so we ended our relationship with him. We took our server to Howard at PC and he had us up and running in LESS THAN 24 HOURS!!!! His price was less than 10% of what the other guy was going to charge us. They were great about communicating throughout the entire process and were very helpful over the next few weeks as we tried to recover our lost data (turns out our backup system had not been working for awhile).I called them to help with my home computer on Tuesday. They sent out a representative Wednesday morning and he problem solved a few things for me. An hour later, I was still having troubles connecting to my wifi, so I called the representative. He came just 2 hours later and fixed the problem, and didn't charge me a cent for the second service call.I think they're very honest and knowledgeable, which is hard to find in the PC repair business!!!

NVIDIA and Microsoft did a driver update on my computer to 8.17.12.8562. My computer started having serious problems and kept crashing to the blue screen of death giving me this error:

STOP: (0x88455008, 0x8FB20B2C, 0x00000000, 0x00000002)

nvlddmkm.sys address 8FB20B2C base at AFA01000, Datestamp 4dd73a6b

I tried removing the driver and letting MS reload it, reverting to the old driver, uninstalling NVIDIA all together and loading the driver directly from the NVIDIA site. Nothing worked and my computer became an expensive paper weight.

I first called the Geek Squad. They said that's a sign that the driver is corrupted and one of their high end graphics card (300.00+) might do the trick.

I thought that I should do more research on Google and Youtube. I used my laptop to Google the error code that confirmed that the drive code was bad or the graphics card couldn't handle the code. A Youtube video strongly advised against using Geek Squad and to replace the video card.

I logged into handy dandy Angie's List and found PC City that was highly ranked. I went there and Chris helped me by listening to the problem and said it could be the driver or the processor with the symptoms I described.

I asked what graphic cards they had and decided to replace the NVIDIA card with an ATI Radeon 6770 ($159.00).

Chris also ran a 15 hour diagnostic to make sure all was good. Long story short, I have very happy with my computer now and I will be going to PC City for my computer repair needs. My advise, stay clear from Geek Squad.

They tell you upfront what the charge would be. They let you know that if it doesn?t work, there will be a charge. They gave me a brand new video card for $20 which was available. I would use them in the future.

The technician was very helpful. He immediately plugged in the cpu to observe the problem. He Confirmed that it was a software problem and that it was something that he could repair easily.

In my opinion the staff at PC City have no clue how to diagnose a problem with a computer hard drive. We were told we had a virus and would be charged for virus removal and repair. However, after performing the virus removal it was found that we actually did not have a virus but a hard drive problem. We were still charged for the virus removal in addition to the actual problem.
