HIGHLAND REALTY and MANAGEMENT has provided us w/ property mgmt services for 3+ yrs, since the summer of 2011. Their ability to find and pre-screen tenants, along w/ the associated costs (10% monthly rent) is rather reasonable for property management companies in the area. Where Highland fails as a property mgmt company is the fact that they are more concerned w/ satisfying the tenant that advocating for the owners interests/property. They take everything the tenant says at face value and makes the owners prove it isn't the case. Their play is to keep the tenant happy at the expense of the owners and to try and keep them in place for as long as possible. It is a lot of back and forth with them, and if you don't have it in writing from them ask for it, because they don't back what they say, in person or on the phone, unless it is in writing, because as they put it conversations can be "unclear and misconstrued." To be honest the only reason we have stayed w/ them as long as we have is because we didn't have the time to look for another property mgmt company in the area and because their costs were so reasonable.
