Gabriel was my sales rep and he was amazing from beginning to end. Ed was my driver and he also gets huge kudos - he even drove with my 2 flat screen tvs riding shot gun!
They were on time - every time. My quote actually ended up being higher than what I paid. I honestly felt like Gabriel and Ed cared about my stuff. What more could you ask?
Sure, moves are a pain and things happen and things will break. My issues were quite minor - as the cross country trucks are "shared", the load that was on board before me was larger than expected meaning that a few (15) of my items didn't fit on the truck so they were stored and delivered about a week later (my first delivery in CO of 98% of my stuff arrived 1.5 days after loading in Chicago though!). With the first/main batch, I only had one thing damaged - a wooden frame (on a very expensive piece of art) that had been packed with not enough paper next to another piece of art in a metal frame. A few more issues arose with the second delivery, but I don't know where the fault lies - in the multiple moves my stuff had to endure, the storage facility in Lombard, IL, the packers or the 2nd driver. This time I had a scratched base to my dining room table, a cracked corner to one of my dressers, a missing piece of one of my dressers, a cracked corner to a drawer and one broken wine glass. The 2 dressers and the drawer are made of Ikea particle board and I was actually pleased that they arrived intact - albeit with a few dings and dents. I have already spoken to Gabriel and Tabatha at American/Bekins and they have told me to simply file a claim which I will do once I have completed unpacking (they give you 9 months to file - which I think is a very considerate).
As for the "helpers" - the first day I had 2 amazing packers who tore thru a massive job in record time. The second day, the helper (yep, only one this day), was inept and my driver, Ed and I had to continually stop and correct him. Gabriel has assured me that American will not be using this subcontractor again, so you shouldn't have this problem. At the CO end, Brad was the helper and he works directly for American - he was awesome - I couldn't believe how quickly Ed and Brad could unload and unpack all my stuff!
Overall, I would highly recommend Gabriel - and ask for Ed to be your driver is you are moving long distance. Kudos American/Bekins and THANK YOU!
