Pretty disappointing. There were a lot of areas that were simply overlooked, that I had to touch up as I discovered them. Insufficient prep work. Much of the paint peeled off and had to be redone within a year or two. Primer was used for only a small fraction of the area painted and they painted over flaking paint instead of scraping first in some areas. Had great difficulty opening the windows after they painted them, and of course, opening them scraped off the paint. The Cabot semi-solid stain did not adhere well and still rubs and scrapes off effortlessly (e.g., by leaning a ladder against it), presumably because they cut corners on the prep. Cost was much more than the estimate and much of the work that was agreed to was not done, for instance replacing damaged trim boards. I bought a pack of new trim boards and they didn't use any of them, so that work was left for me to do. It was also agreed to that holes in the siding would be patched and any nails sticking out would be removed, but all or most were left for me. The painters were not college students. They were very young immigrants and the owner was training them on my job, although he was not working along side them. I think I could have gotten seasoned pros for what I paid, so I regret hiring this company.

Jason, the owner, answered my phone call promptly and emailed an estimate in 24 hours. He was very courteous and professional.
He pointed out some wood rot in a door frame and recommended it be fixed when they painted.
Nate did the door repair and painting and was very easygoing and nice to work with.
I will call them when I next need power washing or painting done.

I called Jason, the owner, in a panic after attempting to paint a deep, dark color in my new kitchen remodel only to end up with jagged ceiling lines.  Jason made time in his schedule to come by the next day, called to tell me he was running 5 minutes late, and gave me an estimate on the spot to fix the kitchen, paint the living room and stair/hall upstairs, including ceilings.  His bid was extremely reasonable and he was so professional that we hired him right then and there.  He had his painter, Jose, on the job within a few days and he did a fabulous job.  Jason stopped by throughout the job to check in and make sure everything was going well and to take care of any concerns.  We are thrilled to have found Jason (he came recommended by a neighbor) and will use him for all of our painting needs in the future!

From the beginning Jason was very responsive.  He called back immediately when I called for an estimate and was very prompt in getting us the details of the cost and everything they would do.  The workers showed up everyday on time and were very courteous and professional.  They cleaned up every day before they left and did a great job on the house.  Jason stopped by frequently to check up on things and was always responsive to questions or concerns.  At the end there were a few minor problems which were quickly taken care of.  Overall, I would recommend Collegiate Painters.

We had already taken all the guttering off the house, before they got here.
To make it easier for them to get to the rotten wood.
They hand painted entire exterior of our house (not sprayed).
It was incredible !
It was more expensive, but worth it because, the quality was so good.
We could of had it done for $2000 less but, it would have been spray painted, and without any of the carpentry work.
There were 3 men on the crew, and they worked four days.
They were very good, very polite, and very nice men.
Jason is the man that gave us the bid, he also would come back out to make sure everything was going okay.
He was a very good, nice man as well.
The quality of the carpentry, and the paint job was extremely wonderful.
They were very conscience to have us check everything when the job was done, to make sure everything was the way we wanted it.
They hauled off the old wood, and cleaned everything up.
We were very happy !

Initially I got an estimate from them and they had a very good rating on Angie's List. The painting took the two painters 3 days to complete. They arrived early around 8 AM ready to go and wasted no time in getting started. They started doing the chipping of the old paint and recalking where the holes were. Then they proceeded to paint the walls in the living room and walls up the stairway to the second floor. The next day they painted the kitchen, bedrooms upstairs and the walls down to the basement. They finished up with the railings going up the stairs to the second floor and also the bathrooms. They even painted behind the refrigerator and cleaned up afterwards. The painters made an attempt to arrange the furniture back the best that they could and locked the front door after they were finished.

I was impressed from the get-go. I'd been very happy with Collegiate on the interior painting they'd done for me a few years ago when the company was owned by Doug Reynolds, so I had high expectations. Collegiate's (relatively) new owner Jason Gudewicz and his crew exceeded those expectations. Jason's estimate process was very thorough--he spent a couple of hours going over the house, talking to me about paint options and running through his estimate. I was incredibly pleased by his quote--it was about 2/3 of what I'd been told by friends was likely, especially for a hand-painted job. Jason's crew did an incredible prep job. They took two full days to sand, scrape and otherwise get the exterior ready. They then spent the rest of the week painting. The exterior wood is in good shape, but it is the original 1972 siding and had been a bit neglected by the previous owner. But between Collegiate's extremely careful prep work and the painstaking hand-painting, it looks like a whole new house. Their attention to detail was impressive. They removed gutters and fixtures to paint completely behind them and got all the little nooks and crannies it's so easy to miss. Jason was very supportive throughout, checking in regularly to see how the job was going, running equipment and paint samples to them, discussing paint options with me, etc. Several months later and I still couldn't be happier with the job they did. I very heartily recommend Collegiate painters.

Doug, the owner came over to give us a quote. He also explained some of the challenges we had - old acoustic ceilings can be hard to paint. If they weren't done right originally, the texture could come off when they tried repainting. He helped us with some design choices of what to paint, then had us go to the store to pick out colors. The crew showed up on time and were very professional. They were obviously very experienced and were able to cut in color changes without taping or any other aid, they just did it perfect. They finished the job very quickly and cleaned up after themselves. We were having other work done on the house around they same time, but they worked our job into their schedule. They started and finished right when they said they would. Out of all the contractors we had working with us that summer, we wish they all would have been more like Collegiate Painters.
