Description of Work: We, like most of our neighbors, had major roof (and other damage) after a tornado and hailstorm went through our neighborhood in June 2015. We contacted Wood Street Builders the beginning of August (my husband was out-of-state May through July) because they are local and we had received a flyer from them offering roofing services. David, the owner, came the same day we called, inspected our roofs, seemed to be very knowledgeable about roofing, gave us an estimate a few days later, and we agreed to hire him. He agreed to contact our insurance company, who had already stated in writing that all the roofs (house, barn, shed, garage) needed to be redone. His time estimate between inspection and the actual roofing was 30 days. We contacted him several times after that time estimate and were told that he was busy with other projects and had not heard back from our insurance company. We contacted the insurance company ourselves. Yes, they were behind responding to requests, but had everything in place by the beginning of October. We never heard from David again. Consequently, our roofs were the only ones on our street, which had not be redone by November, at which time we decided that it was too late in the year to go with another roofer and would wait until 2016. We notified our insurance company of this, and they were agreeable since our roofs were badly damaged, but not leaking (yet). We definitely would NOT recommend this company for roofing, which seems to be a new sideline to their construction business and is not mentioned at all under services offered on Angie's List. Without having received the flyer, we never would have contacted Wood Street Builders.

 + -1 moreOur experience with Wood Street Builders was excellent from the very first contact. I called to schedule an estimate, and the owner and project manager came out to our house together within a few days. We had several contractors bid this project, and Wood Street Builders really stood out from the others for a few reasons: 1) They were very knowledgeable about various options for decking, stains, and framing and could discuss in detail the pros and cons of each one. 2) They contacted us with a (very reasonable) quote in just a few days, while some other places took up to 2 weeks. 3) They invested time and effort in our project before we had even committed to hiring them. For example, after coming to our home for the initial estimate, they offered to meet with us at a lumber store to personally discuss various options for construction material and railing styles. This was very helpful, and made us feel confident in the construction decisions we were making. Working with Wood Street Builders was fantastic when the construction started, as well. We had already selected the deck style we wanted from a free website, which had provided us with very basic plans. Wood Street Builders was able to work with the plans with no problem. They also suggested a few changes that gave us the deck we wanted with more usable space as well as a stronger, more stable frame. The same 3 people worked on our deck from start to finish. Ron, Luke, and David were very friendly and trustworthy. I felt perfectly comfortable with them coming and going when we were not home, even to the extent that I offered to leave a door unlocked so our restroom would be accessible. When the deck was finished, the construction site was cleaned up and left in perfect condition, no scraps or sawdust laying around. The deck has been finished for a little bit under a month, and we are so happy with the way it turned out. We get great use out of it, and are very impressed with the workmanship. I wholeheartedly recommend Wood Street Builders and plan to contact them, myself, for future projects.
Description of Work: We hired Wood Street Builders to tear out an old wooden deck about 6 feet off the ground and replace it with a new, larger wood deck with metal balusters in the railing.
