"Mr [Member Name Removed], You have mixed our company up with a similarly named company: Metro Heating and Cooling Pros. We have had issues with this company for years! I know that this is the issue because we do not work with Choice Home warranty at all and never have. I have tried to tell Choice Home Warranty of the issue also, and have gotten zero response. I'm sorry that you have had a bad experience, but it was not our company. Thank you, Cindi Metro Heating and Cooling, Inc"
We were incredibly impressed with Metro Heating and Cooling. After doing a lot of research on the type of cooler we were interested in, and getting bids from 4 different companies we ended up going with Metro HVAC. They are a top 5 rebate evaporative cooler rebate producer for Xcel, so they definitely have a lot of install experience. I like how they specialize in evap coolers, and it's clear that Morris the owner knows them inside and out.
Morris took the time to visit my house (twice) to scope out the installation location and logistics, and worked very hard to verify that our tricky installation situation would work. We have a home built in 1905, so needless to say there's a lot of tight spaces and weird stuff going on in our house that complicated things. We worked together to determine an installation location which is discrete and not really very visible from either the front or back yard, and scoped out where the electrical and water lines would go so they would stay well-hidden.
In the end, Morris and his assistant Bobby completed the install in two days, as quoted, and got everything up and running. They were very neat and cleaned up after themselves throughout the house. We're very happy with our new unit.
In terms of price, we got four different quotes and Metro's was by far the lowest - 50% lower than the closest bid, actually. Yes, that's right - their bid was literally 50% lower. That's even before taking into account the fact that their bid includes a 1 year service contract which covers the first year start up and shut down, as well as next year's start up. They also took the time to show me how to service the unit myself if I wanted (which I do) to save on having to re-hire a contractor every year to start up and shut down the unit. The services also qualified for a $1200 rebate from Xcel, which was a really nice bonus. Got the total cost of the job down to under $5k, which is exactly what was quoted on their website. Nothing extra charged for framing, steep pitch roof, or any other extras that other companies were quoting me.
very easy to deal with. They have taken care of my swamp cooler for
years. I can't imagine using any other service. I highly recommend
them!
Unfortunately, when the time came, we had to be away in the late afternoon and missed their being here - but they did come late in the day and did a nice job shutting everything off, just as agreed. The only flaw was that I wished we had had a confirmation call that they would be here late and maybe we could have made it here. Otherwise, nice reliable service from a busy company.
They were the only company that took the time to explain everything in extreme detail. At first I thought it was over-kill, but after talking to other companies that didn't even mention the other services that would needed to install the Evap cooler, like the electric, and roofing, I was glad he spent all the time and when over everything with me in such detail.
Morris sat down and showed me all the different units they sold and serviced, including what the homeowner would need to to for upkeep (like needing to get up on the roof for maintenance for some models - something I would not personally do) and showing me the different models that had the options I wanted, like a thermostat.
During our estimate appointment, he took the time to measure where I originally wanted the vent, they checked out the roof to make sure it could go in that area, which it could not due to the location of the vent pipes on my roof. Explaining to me that the cooler needed to be so many feet away from any vent pipes to pass inspection (none of the other companies even mentioned this).
The day of the install, they were most of the way through with the install when a major thunderstorm hit, It was getting late I expected them to pack it up and tell me they would come back on another day. But they stayed and waited out the storm until they could safely get back up on the roof and finish the install. Morris took the time during the storm to filled out the warranty paperwork and even the Xcel rebate form, so it was filled out correctly. He was one of the few companies that even mentioned the rebate.
Morris even pointed out there was an issue with two of my vent pipes not having the proper vent caps on them. I had an extra vent cap in my garage, they put that one on, and put on a proper vent cap on the other pipe for me. (I have had three different roofing companies out in the last couple of years and none of them even mentioned to me the issue with the vent caps.)
I highly recommend using Metro. When Morris meets you to go over coolers, he is very thorough, and you will know what to expect and you will not have any unexpected charges at the end of the job.
