In an hour and a half Ron was able to give us the ability to break our dog of his whining and roaming which was making it impossible for him to be at the store when he had to be. Of course, what Ron actually did was train us the owners to not reinforce the bad behavior and to get our dog to the point where he wasn't upset and full of anxiety. What we had been doing is trying to comfort him and give him love - which just made sure he gave us even more whining.Ron gave us the tools to use to stop the bad stuff, and reward the good stuff, and some things that would keep our dog occupied in between so that he wasn't building up anxiety. In one session we got what we needed and ever since we have been able to continue on our own to train our dog on the behavior we want and don't want.Ron also followed up with us several times on the phone in order to make sure we were succeeding and that if we had any questions or other issues we could get them answered.It is very obvious that Ron loves dogs, understands how to teach people to get the appropriate behavior from them, and really really enjoys his work. He very much wanted to work with us at the place where we needed the help - came to our store on a Sunday when we were closed so we could work on it. I would completely recommend Ron to anyone who is having issues with their pets. You will get the best in the business with k9 Minds!

K9Minds worked me and my dog who is highly dominate. With Ron's excellent instructions, demonstrations, and return demonstration I'm starting to slowly progress in correctly managing my dog. K9Minds will be back next week!

My dogs were out of control, so I called Ron Johnson and described their behavior.  He came that day and spent 2 hours. HE miraculously changed their boundry issues then came back and had 1 of my dogs walking on a leash staying at his side.

Joey did a lot of socialization training with K9 Minds. 
Ron worked with the kids(4 daughters) and me-teaching us how to work with Joey.
We learned about the triggers that cause Joey to be anxious and aggressive.
Joey is much calmer now..We really have to keep up with the training because Joey is counting on us!

We started working with Ron about a year ago and will continue to use his services. I have tried several dog trainers and just haven't had the success that I have had with Ron. Diego (my friendly pit bull) responds to him unlike anyone else. He has made the impossible- possible. 
Diego has been a challenge. He has his issues but most of those have been addressed thanks to Ron and his training techniques. Diego started off being very dog aggressive!  You could not bring him within a mile of a dog without him being reactive- growling, barking and lunging. With Ron's rehab program, he was able to introduce Diego to dogs slowly and now has him running with a seven other dogs "his pack" every Monday, Thursday and Friday. Unlike many trainers, he set expectations from the beginning. He told me that it was going to be a long road to recovery. He made it clear that we needed to dedicate time and effort to his training and not just the hour a week we spend with Ron. He provided us the tools that we needed to have the type of dog we wanted. His obedience is much better than it has ever been. 
Diego still has a ways to go with his training, but without Ron's help, we would have never been at the place we are. Diego LOVES him and looks forward to seeing him three days a week. On the days he is not with him, Diego stares out the window and wines waiting for Ron and his doggy friends. :-)
I can't thank him enough for helping us get to a better place with Diego. He is GREAT! I would recommend him a 100 times over to anyone who has not had success in the past with other trainers. He is our dog whisper. He just works miracles!!! Diego is such a happier dog because of Ron.

They will be coming today to do some follow ups as well. They know dogs and works very well with dogs. They are very well priced. Once my dog understood he is not in charge he really started behaving himself very well. The steps they gave me to follow to get my dog better behaved his leash control worked on and are really working.

I just wanted to share my experience with Ron Johnson and K9 minds.  I met Ron at National Pit Bull Awareness Day.  I attended the event with my Pit Bull on a leash and he is a strong, sweet boy.  Ron could see that my dog was walking me through the crowd and not the other way around.  I really tried to control my dog on leash and was almost giving up on ever gaining that control. 
Ron approached me and asked if he could show me something.  In about one minute flat he had my dog walking perfectly on a  leash. I was amazed.  He showed me how and it worked and still does. 
I belong to a dog rescue group and as a result I have a Pit Bull, German shepherd and a C***-a-poo.  After seeing the amazing results on Jackson I asked Ron if he would work with the rest of my pack.  My Shepherd has aggression issues.  As a matter of fact he bit Ron on one of his visits.  Ron handled the situation like a true dog whisperer.  He gained control of my dog without being abusive in any way.  I also learned that my C***-a-poo had some issues too.  He is a small guy but he was aggressive also, I just didn?t notice because of his size. He probably had the worst ?attitude? but was getting away with it.  My husband and I learned how to manage our dogs by the techniques that Ron taught us. I think the biggest lesson we learned is that not only are the techniques important but training must be done consistently.  We now have much less chaotic home and have dogs that walk perfectly on leashes since Uncle Ron entered our lives.
Ron has also helped us tremendously in our rescue efforts.  He has worked with a lady that adopted a dog from our group who was having a difficult time managing the dog.  He is currently still working with her to help keep the dog in her home. This means one less homeless dog. 
Once you become a client of Uncle Ron you feel like family.  He truly cares about your pets and you can write or call him at anytime with questions or advice and he helps every single time.  It feels comforting to have that service available

Ron is the best trainer you could find. He should be categorized more as a behaviorist than a trainer. I have used him with each of my dogs and they love him and I love the dogs he has shown me they can be. I have a 3 year old boxer that was showing aggression towards my other dog a two year old pitbull mix and myself. I looked into other trainers and they only told me they could solve the problem but couldn't say exactly what had caused it. When I found Ron, on the recommendation of the rescue I had gotten my girl from, he explained everything that was going on in my boxers head and how we could get him back to being a happy balanced dog. This was in November. In march this year we moved and now it was my girl having issues in the new back yard. They didn't start right away but progressed into aggressive behavior toward my neighbors and their pets. I was devastated and thought I would be unable to keep her. Ron came back to the rescue and we are working through her issues to get her back to being a happy balanced dog when she is outside of the house. Though it had been about six months both dogs remembered Ron and with in a few minuets were the best behaved dogs I have ever seen. I am confident that my family will stay together now and I can over come any issues I may have from them with Ron's guidance. He is always a phone call, text, or email away. We have homework for the next two weeks and then a follow up visit planed so far. The work Ron does is amazing he really understands the way dogs think and also the way their owners think and is able to get them thinking on the same path for a balanced home. I would highly recommend him to anyone who owns a dog, no matter the size or breed but especially a bully breed he is just an amazing miracle worker with them.

Excellent experience in working with Ron Johnson.  He has helped us training our dog and has allowed us to board our dog at his home.  The dog enjoys being around Ron and his family and we know when we go out of town our "Piper" is cared for and treated well.

I have used k9 minds for almost a year now. My 2 year old female boxer was showing signs of anxiety/aggression towards dogs to the point where people were dodging me and I knew I needed help! I tried things on my own, but it didn't seems to help, in the end it actually made her worse. K9 minds has helped and continues to help with her anxiety issues, as she continues to learn that there IS fun in playing with other dogs (besides her brother). Through one-on-one training sessions to group sessions he has provided me with knowledge and techniques to help reduce her anxiety when meeting other dogs. Some techniques include: more of dogs greeting her from behind since she can't handle face to face, never hold a tight leash because that makes it worse (which is exactly what I was doing) and RELAX because she is feeling everything I'm feeling. Those are just a few of the many techniques I have learned. K9 minds also continues to help reinforce the skills through boarding and training. K9 minds will take her (and my other 3 year old boxer) for the weekend and continues to work on her anxiety through trips to the dog park and interactions with other dogs. I have learned that you CAN teach an old dog new tricks as long as your willing to commit to the training process. Ron has helped us with our 2 Great Dane's who have some fear issues around strangers.  We waited too long to contact a trainer, hoping to resolve the issue on our own.  I got Ron's company name, K9 Minds!, from an employee at Pet Sense in Castle Rock, CO and was told I would not be disappointed.  I had already gotten 2 other quotes from other trainers and the cost was really steep due to having 2 big dogs...and coming to the house required an extra charge.  Ron's price was very reasonable so we gave him a try.  He has been awesome!  Our Danes are doing really good.  BUT...Ron stresses consistency from us as owners and he checks up on us regularly to see how it's going.  He has worked with us at our house on several occasions now and also met us at the Castle Rock Outlets to help train them around people.  He has taught us as owners, how to help our dogs meet strangers and we are still working on it based on his instruction...it's going good.  Ron will also be helping us with certain commands such as 'come'.  Ron has been great about helping us with issues that come up that we call him about.  He's been very generous with his time on phone consultations.  He has not charged us for those conversations and they've been fairly long!  He's been very honest and he really knows his business!  He's very straight forward....we really like that.  Now that we've found Ron, we wouldn't use anyone else.  The Pet Sense employee was correct...we haven't been disappointed at all.  We highly recommend Ron Johnson at K9 Minds!
