Apollo RV Rental

Six weeks before our vacation we reserved a specific RV (Sunrise Escape) for our trip to Glacier National Park. We were particularly concerned about the length of the RV because, certain areas of the park are unaccessable to longer vehicles. The Sunrise Escape seemed perfect for us because it was only 25 feet long, and because we genuinely liked the amenitied it offered. Imagine our surprise when we arrived in Aurora, Colo. from Lawrence, Kansas to learn Apollo did not have that vehicle. (Keep in mind that we arrived promptly at 8:00 a.m. and were not provided any vehicle until 12:15 p.m.) We sat on the Apollo lot for the entire morning, while we were repeatedly lied to about the vehicle availability. At first we were told they did not have a Sunrise Escape (the employee who spoke to us claimed there wasn't a Sunrise Escape in the entire state!) Then we were told that a Sunrise Escape had been located, but that it needed to be washed and cleaned. Then we were told the back-up camera was broken and would need to be changed out. THEN we were told that the vehicle had bad tires and would not be leaving the lot AT ALL! They offered us a 27 foot and quot;Mini Winnieand quot;, and basically said...and quot;take it or leave it.and quot; The manager was extremely rude, and started screaming at us when we objected to his and quot;offer.and quot; By this time we were extremely frustrated, and exhaused, and decided to take the vehicle they offered us. Before we could leave the lot, however, we noticed that the check engine light was on, and when we pointed it out, the service tech told us the vehicle was low on power steering fluid! We never saw the Sunrise Escape they claimed they had located for us, and we suspect it never actually existed. We basically lost most of the day (sitting in the hot sun) in the Apollo parking lot, and had to rush through the remainder of our trip to stay on schedule.
The check engine light never did go out, and we called the and quot;24-hour roadside assist numberand quot; several times to find out what they thought we should do about it. The man that finally answered the phone said, and quot;I'll find a repair service for you and call you back.and quot; We never heard from him again. Needless to say throughout the trip we were quite nervous, thinking the engine could fail, and we would be stranded. Overall, this experience was a real nightmare. We would never, ever, rent from Apollo again, and would certainly discourage others from doing so.
