I called Delaneys and they were very helpful about getting someone here in only one day. Since I'd already removed the AFC breaker, the electrician simply replaced it with a new one. He did not do any inspection of the wiring in the area the breaker covered. He just said that if it tripped again, I should call them. Since then the breaker has not tripped, so apparently it was a faulty breaker that I could and should have replaced myself. However, I'd thought that more than just replacing the breaker would be required.
Since the tripping problems had ended, I was satisfied in general with Delaneys' performance. I was not, however, pleased about the bill. They charged $60 for one hour, even though he'd been there 15 minutes - I did not object to that, since a 1-hour minimum is reasonable. What I did find annoying was that they'd charged $76 for a breaker that I could have purchased in a store for $33. I do not think that was a reasonable markup.
The bottom line is that I paid $141 for a job I could have done myself for $33, and they did nothing more than I would have done - replace the breaker. More important, I think they should have checked for possible problems (yep, I should have asked).
