First - you should know that the reason they have so many good reviews is because they offer deep discounts if you will write one while they are standing right there staring at you. So for that reason I gave a positive review initially, because the movers themselves were truly very nice people with a great can-do attitude. The problem was there were only 2 of them to move a very heavy upright piano from the 1800s. The piano was not wrapped or protected in any way, and got banged around more than I would have liked. But ultimately 2 guys were not enough to carry this piano, so my husband and 2 teenagers had to help. It got dropped repeatedly. Then, after they left, I noticed that 2 of our stairs had been broken when it was dropped. I emailed the company to let them know that a) we had to do a lot of the moving ourselves, and b) they broke our stairs. The response I got was "sorry your move wasn't as smooth as it could have been. Thank you for using A Good Moving Company." No offer to come look at the stairs they broke, or discount the move since my family did a lot of it, or even a "I hope your piano is okay." REALLY disappointing. Then the owner had the nerve to go post a negative review for my company, which he has never used, and send me the following email in an attempt to blackmail me to not pursue him further: Laura: Neither you or I are happy with each other. I believe you left out vital, mission critical information that would have changed the outcome. My case is that you told me in general the you needed a regular upright piano moved from one house to a nearby house and that was it. I sent you two (2) CSU Football player graduates, one of them is trying out for the NFL. Both have worked for me for over three (3) years and their experience is vast. So, they are STRONGER and more skilled than any regular person. A regular piano is 300 to 400 pounds, an easy task for them. However, your piano is not a regular piano if it takes 5 people to move it. Then the matter of OMITTING the fact that stairs would need to be transversed. That would have been something good to tell me when you called. The movers both being individuals who want to satisfy their customer proceeded to give it their best effort and it did not go as well as we wanted. What did you expect to happen, when you leave out the enormous magnitude of the item (600 to 800 pounds likely)? Did you expect the two movers to move the item though stairs without any injury to persons or property? That is an irrational expectation. There's an old saying, bad information in, bad information out. That exactly characterizes this event. My position is simple, this would have gone fine if you had included that missing information and so it follows that you bear a responsibility to this event. To assert that I am in wrong is wrong. You and I know how consumers are. They call saying, "I only have this that needs done..." Then you arrive to determine the information you were provided was not complete or accurate. You have been around long to experience this phenomena repeatedly. That's what happen to me on this event. I have three (3) options at that point. 1. Change your price 2. Deny service 3. Make a solid attempt to achieve your goal. We made a solid attempt and that is not something to discredit my firm for. So, it follows that I must respond to your claim in a manner which is business like, accurate and for the benefit of my firm. I will respond to all your claims very strongly. If your claim is that my firm is terrible, I will reply in kind. If you claim my firm is nice I will also respond in kind. At this time your updated claim (review #280) is... "I'm sorry to have to update this review like this. First - you should know that the reason they have so many good reviews is because they offer deep discounts if you will write one while they are standing right there staring at you. So, for that reason I gave a positive review initially, because the movers themselves were truly very, very nice people with a great can-do attitude. The problem was there were only 2 of them to move a very heavy upright piano from the 1800s. The piano was not wrapped or protected in any way, and got banged around more than I would have liked. The response I got was "sorry your move wasn't as smooth as it could have been. Thank you for using A Good Moving Company." No offer to come look at the stairs they broke, or discount the move since my family did a lot of it, or even a "I hope your piano is okay." REALLY disappointing" This is my claim (review #93) ... "On January 15, 2017 I had business with Laura Smith, the Owner. The information she provided me was inaccurate and incomplete and led to a terrible performance and an unacceptable outcome. Which was not good for either of us and resulted in both of us being very unhappy with each other. The project was minimized in its description and thus the service was inadequate. That was not the bad part, the bad part was the way she behaved. She did not accept any form of responsibility to the situation and information flow, but instead choose to blame others with a terrible teenager-like attitude. Good and bad things are going to happen, it’s life, but getting mad at others for your mistake is bad form and manner. I do not recommend working with Laura Smith." What is important is that both reviews can be updated. This is an example of what my updated can read, "I have been in business in Fort Collins for over 10 years and nothing brings my heart more happiness than other local small business, so please support this firm because there are small business and deserve an opportunity to serve you." That would resemble what my mom used to teach me, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything," My mom was right. The take away is that we can both benefit from this event with complimentary reviews that speak to the good things about each other or we can both blast one-star reviews all over the place and look like dumb ***** in the process while we diminish our firms’ good names. My claim will be a mirror reflection of your claim and while being honest to facts. The review I posted is true but, I can always find a way to say something nice instead. Krissie Ewan wrote the following about your firm and regardless of the merits of the review it made your firm look bad. "If I could give a ZERO I would!!!! DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE! I hired All Star Cleaning in Fort Collins to clean our rental. I met with one of their employees (who by the way is their Quality Control person) at the rental and even gave her a checklist of what I expected. When I got to the house what I found was shocking! The drawers and cabinets were still full of mouse turds, the oven was BLACK with grease, the stove was full of grease, the cabinets were still dusty and not wiped down. I swear I don't know what they did when they were there. You should see the pictures! Incredible! I I spent all day Saturday and Sunday disinfecting and cleaning the house! Do NOT use this company and please spread the word so nobody else gets scammed!!!! They told me they won't refund my money because their policy is to send the crew back out to fix what is wrong. Unfortunately, my renters were moving in on Sunday and they are open or available on the weekends to answer calls. The owner even told me that my pictures were basically a lie when I told her I would be happy to show her what the house looked like. Unbelievable!" Now you have a business decision to make. Your action will dictate if I update my review to say something nice about you personally with 5 stars. I wish you well in business. Keep in mind we don't have to like our decisions but, those choices we make will have a permanent impact on our respective firms. Godspeed fellow small business person, Cipriano Duran

I've used A Good Moving Company many times over several years.  The first time was May 2009 - Mom and dad had lived with me for some time.  A couple weeks earlier the doctor had called Hospice into my home for both my parents.  I was reeling from the reality that mom and dad were having their last weeks together.  That day in May I had just received a call that two hospital beds were in route from Denver.  The tech could set up the hospital beds only if the existing bed was removed from the room upon his arrival.  Company policy did not allow him to move furniture.

With absolutely no one I could call for help I put my head in my hands and said out loud, ?I just need a good moving company.?  Opening the phonebook I was amazed to see a moving company named ?A Good Moving Company?! Coincidence?  I think not ?Grasshopper?.

Dialing the number I was painfully aware that it was unlikely any company could help me with less than an hour window.  Cipriano answered the phone with a huge smile.  Quickly explaining my situation I was braced for a kind voice to tell me it was simply impossible with such short notice.  Instead, he told me not to worry, help would be on the way ? he would make a call and get right back to me.  I felt as though I had been rescued from disaster.  Within three minutes he called to tell me a crew would be there shortly.  I?m sure those guys came to help us instead of taking a break between jobs.  I am so very grateful.  They ended up moving two beds, one to the basement so it would be out of the way.  The fee amounted to the price of gas money ? a generous tip was my pleasure.  My gratitude remains today.

I have since used A Good Moving Company 5 or 6 times; and today I called them to help me again.  They have moved me twice in the last 6 years and are happy to help me manage the heavy lifting through remodeling and other in-house efforts.

These men and women are professional, polite, efficient and very hard working individuals. And everyone was a joy to be around.  My recommendation could not be higher.  A Good Moving Company IS easy to find.

If Cipriano answers the phone when you call you will know what I mean when I say I could hear him smiling.  I always feel uplifted and well taken care of.  Integrity grows trust.  I trust this company.

Many Thanks,

Donna, Fort Collins

My moving crew was crackerjack. Sam B, Marty, Matt L, and Zach C. were competent, fast, kind, patient, and did their best to get the job done well while saving me time, money, and angst. I was consolidating 4 sheds into one big one, having sold my house a year ago and stashed my family's contents to accommodate a temporary move from the state. Revisiting the amount of stuff we had in storage was galling and upsetting, but they kept me moving forward and we--rather they--got it done. We consulted at the start about what was to be moved and looked at it, then discussed where it would go (how it was to be sorted) in the bigger space. They helped me think about access as well as elapsed time to keep me within my budget. They also did NOT charge me when we all met there and I forgot the keys were in my own car, which had spent an extra night at the mechanic's. (My son had to run them down to us.) I am grateful to them for their positive nature and their drive to finish the job when I was ready to quit. They also dropped off a piece of furniture my disabled husband needed at his assisted living facility: they literally went that extra mile! I very highly recommend this company and the mature young men they send for any moving needs. They're great, and for me they were a saving grace.
