In 2011, I had Ryco Enterprises replace my worn out furnace with a high efficiency one. The furnace is located in a small, tight room in a finished basement. Ryan Schmidt, the owner, was there to get his workers established and then left for another project. The removal of the old furnace and the installation of the new went flawlessly. When it came to the exhaust vent, we hit a snag. We did not have enough room in my pipe chase to accommodate the two new 3" pipes. Ryco's pipe installer had been there all day and he gave me the option of coming back to figure out how to run the pipes to the roof, which would mean a new hole in my roof, or we could run the pipe out the front of the house where the old cold air intake was and be done that evening. As it was late and I wanted to be done, I opted for running the pipes out the front of the house. Bad choice. My wife hated the decision from an aesthetic perspective. But the job was done, the price was very good and overall we felt great. But ultimately we decided we would ratherhave the exhaust go through the roof. Last summer, I contacted Ryan and scheduled to have him come out to the house to discuss rerouting the exhaust. Something happened on my end and I had to cancel the appointment and never got back to it. Finally this August, I called Ryan again and raised the issue again. Remember this is two years after the installation of the furnace. He came out and said he knew we had never been happy with the position of the exhaust vent and that he would have it rerouted to the roof and he would ONLY CHARGE ME FOR PARTS...$500.00. He estimated that it would only take 3-4 hours. His 2-man team showed up on Monday at 12noon as agreed. Because of the difficulty of accessing the pipe chase, at 7pm they had only been able to remove the old 7" steel pipe for my hot water heater and replace it with a 4". They promised they would not leave without getting the hotwater heater working. The next day, they returned at 11am and finished the new exhaust piping around 6pm. That's 28 man-hours of labor. And yet, Ryan still only charged me for the parts....$500 as agreed. I couldn't believe it. I would recommend Ryan Schmidt and RYCO Enterprises to ANYONE for HVAC.
