ALSO NEVER EVER LET ANY CONTRACTOR USE PRESSURE TREATED POSTS ON YOUR FENCE. TO MOST CONSUMERS, IT SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD IDEA, BUT THEY ARE MADE OF DOUGLAS FIR. WHICH MAKES THE POSTS A LITTLE CHEAPER TOO. IN DRY CLIMATES SUCH AS COLORADO, THESE POSTS END UP TWISTING A LOT. WHICH MEANS YOUR PANELS WILL FALL RIGHT OF THE POST. WE'VE SEEN MANY FENCES THAT HAVE FAILED DUE TO PRESSURE TREATED POSTS SOME OF THEM AFTER ONLY 2 MONTHS. CUSTOMERS ALWAYS CALL US TO FIX FENCES THAT OTHER CONTRACTORS MADE THIS MISTAKE ON. Neither my neighbors nor I got what we paid for. The quality of the lumber used on the fence was so poor that it began warping within weeks. The wrought iron was also poor quality and not as specified. Lucero had no explanation for either. It was the stuff they always buy from Lowes, he said. It was good enough.
They carelessly destroyed plantings when it would have been easy to avoid them.
Worst of all was the unnecessary damage that they did to my sprinkler system. Wires for the sprinklers were partially visible on the ground but that didn't alert them to be careful. When sinking the posts they drilled right through the wires and several sprinkler heads and pipes.
Lucero refused to be responsible for any of their damages. They told me that I should have read the fine print on their one-page contract, so all repairs were my responsibility. Seems their contract gives them a free pass to destroy customer property. Repairing the damage they caused will cost almost as much as the fencing did.
These people were a terrible investment. Especially disappointing since I used the reviews on Angies List to find them.
"Lucero Fence Company came to this property to give this customer an estimate for doing this fence. We went over the cost of doing this project. while i was there i asked if she knew where her sprinkler lines ran in her back yard. she replied "no" i then made it very clear many times that there is no way for us to know where the lines are and for that reason we have a disclaimer for sprinkler systems. She said that she completely understands. i went over it many times with her that it is always a real possibility that the auger could hit one of the lines. As luck would have it, we ended up hitting a sprinkler line. Which was not above ground. it was actually buried about a foot underground. She then became very upset. i went over everything we talked about with her. She said she understood, and everything was fine. about one hour after i left i received a call from her. She was really upset again. In a good faith effort to make her happy, i gave her $50 off to help pay for the repair, even though i wasn't supposed to. She then said "ill accept that" and she was happy again. The next day we showed up to finish the job, She saw the job when it was finished. She said it looked amazing. everything looked great. when it came time for the final payment, she said the cost of the repair was $100 and that she thinks it was very unprofessional for us not to pay for that. And if the $50 is the most ill do, I can shove it (you know where) obviously she was upset again. So in another good faith effort to make her a satisfied customer i took off $100. so that i paid for the whole repair. She then said she was very happy and that she'd give a good review. then she called later and said the repair is now more than that. i told her i've everything i could for her. I wish there was more i could do. Then she threatened the fact that she got us from Angies list. basically i better do everything she wants or else i get a bad review. She tried to use that against me. in reality, i bent over backwards for her. I actually did use 100% premium cedar with no knot holes or any other defects. I gave her the exact wrought iron fence she picked out. There was a concrete retaining that we had to jackhammer through in order to put the fence in, and i did not charge her for that. which that wouldve been an extra $400. Also she had a hole that she wanted filled with concrete. I did that for free. Then she called back 2 days later and said she changed her mind about wanting that, and that she wanted it removed. Ive done everything i could to make this customer happy and it was never enough. The other neighbors all paid their portions and were very happy with how everything turned out. I wish there was something else i could do, other than give her the fence for free. Every customer is very important to us and We do everything we can to make sure every customer is a life long customer."
