Jeffco Auto & Radiator

Beware of their utilizing a variation of the old "bait and switch" scam.  I took my truck in to get a "free"  estimate on soldering my fuel tank to fix a drip.  When I called back, the guy in charge, Lonnie,  indicated they had the tank on the ground, disabling my truck so I couldn't drive it and wanted $2,000 to fix it. When I indicated Colorado State Law prohibited this type of scam, Lonnie became incensed and kicked me out of the shop.  I had to call the police to whom he lied, stating I had given him "verbal authorization."  Not knowing what to do, the police  told me to take it to small claims court.  Eventually I had to have the vehicle towed to another garage and pay Lonnie at  Arvada/Jeffco Radiator  $240 for essentially making my truck undrivable.  In addition, they calculated the price for three hours work at $80 per hour.  On their "Auto MD" website they advertize $60 per hour.
Incidentally, I am not a neophyte concerning auto repair; currently I operate Ace Towing out of Gypsum up in the mountains, but have owned an auto repair shop and was at one time a high school auto shop teacher.  My mistake was not insisting on a written work order.  If you must deal with Arvada/Jeffco Radiator, get everything in writing; however, considering their, in my opinion, propensity towards unethical behavior, I would not deal with them at all.   I have filed a consumer fraud complaint with the State Attorney General's Office and hope to recoup my loses that way.
