In our particular situation, the new kitchen design will change the wall where the stove will go into a half wall, which will not allow for a double oven (which I have had for many years). Anita suggested that I might want to think about a convection microwave that would serve two purposes (a microwave and a 2nd oven for baking and warming).
After she felt that she knew what our needs were and what we were looking for in use and aesthetics, Anita offered to spend time over the evening to research products and put together a few "packages" for us to choose from. The next day she called us to come back and we reviewed the 3 packages she prepare for us, complete with color printouts of the appliances and their specifications. The prices Arvada Appliance gave us on the appliances was excellent for the quality appliances we selected. It was comparable to Home Depot and Lowes, and a little lower. We chose the KitchenAid package, and will receive another $500 in rebates offered by that manufacturer.
Our remodel contractor will install the appliances, so we have no comment on installation by Arvada Appliance, but they will be delivering the appliances at no additional charge. Delivery will be in 2 weeks, so we cannot comment on that at this time, but will update our review once delivery is complete.
After the electrician put in the outlet, Brian came back and said he could not put in the new range because of two issues: the granite countertop left too narrow an opening, and the gas line was in the wrong place. So Brian left, and I hired a contractor who shaved down the granite and moved the gas line, which required disconnecting the old range. After a couple of days without a range, Brian came back and said the wood below the granite needed to be shaved down, which he could not do because he didn't have the right tools. I offered for him to use a sander and he said it would take an hour or more and he would have to charge an extra $100-$150. I complained to the Arvada store and they told me the best they could do was cover $20 of the extra charge. I complained that Brian should have spotted the gas line issue when he first came out, and they said he only knew about installing the microwave, not the range (don't they communicate with eachother?).
We told Brian to forget it, we would hire our own contractor, and he left. Our contractor just told us that the floor outlet for the oven is 220 volt, not 110 (the range requires 110). Another issue not spotted by Brian, the first, second, or third time he came out. So we may have to hire the electrician again, who charges an $80 trip charge on top of the work. Not real happy with Arvada Appliance!
