Woodland Hills Fireplace-Barbecue-Appliances

We went to the Thousand Oaks location, at 2975 Thousand Oaks Blvd. Both locations are owned by the same company/family.
The store sells all kinds of things related to fireplaces, as well as doing fireplace remodels. There was a large selection of freestanding fireplace screens to choose from and the salesperson Sean (Shawn) let us take the two screens we liked best to take home and see which one looked the best in place. This was extremely helpful. We returned the one we didn't like with no problem, and paid for the one we had taken. Very pleasant and easy experience, and a very good quality screen at a fair price.

This review is one year overdue ! We purchased an outdoor built-in gas grill for our backyard makeover. Josh was very professional, knowledgable and helpful. He guided us to a DCS gas grill and after more than one year of use, I am VERY happy with the choice. Delivery time was perfect and the price was outstanding! I couldn't believe they were $150 less than Pacific Sales (a chain with approx 15-20 stores).
I would recommend Woodland Hills Fireplace and BBQ to others.

I can't remember the price because we also bought a piece to put into the fireplace. They were excellent. They were very reasonable. We had bids for like $3000 and the price charged by Woodland Hills Fireplace was about $500 less. So, it was amazing. We were very satisfied with their service.

I was very happy with them. Very honest and fixed the problem that someone else had caused. They were also punctual and prices were reasonable.

This is a family owned business with the father and three (four?) brothers. They are terrific. We are so happy to have discovered them despite the name of their store! It is SO much more. They have top of the line kitchen appliances, beautiful gas grills, fireplace mantles and accessories. They are so knowledgeable and give great personal service. We love our new gas logs and the wonderful convenience of not having to use those pressed wood logs and all the mess. We highly recommend Woodland Hills Fireplace Shop! And by the way, they opened a new store in Thousand Oaks called Fireside.

They were wonderful coming-out, spending time, and giving me an estimate. They were on time for everything. A week after the service occurred, the fireplace stopped functioning. It then took a long time to get a response from them to come out. They even tried to charge me for the broken part, even though it was only one week after the service. They also tried to blame me and said that I had misused the fireplace. It is hard to rate them in quality, responsiveness, punctuality, and professionalism since they were wonderful in all of those categories during the sale, but were below average after the service took place.

I made a phone call the week before to set up an appointment. The person taking down my information was very polite, professional and set up an appointment at a convenient time for me. The technician arrived on time, asked a couple of questions about the fireplace and quickly checked it over. He tested the cheaper of the two possible broken components first (the thermocouple) and determined it was broken. He replaced it ($30), but that didn't fix the fireplace so then it was the valve ($290) that was replaced next, both parts he had with him on his truck. After both parts were in the fireplace worked again just fine. The labor charge was exactly what I had been told over the phone it would be and he was only at the house about 60-90 minutes total which included taking a few minutes of time to make sure I was clear on operation of the new valve. The technician obviously knew what he was doing, was polite and professional.

Well, first I blew some money with electricians and plumbers who couldn't fix our specialty fireplace. Then I called the company who I bought it from. As it turns out there are very few accredited Jotul fireplace service centers in the area. It is a specialty item, but they do sell other brands of cast iron decorative stoves as well and service them. Jack was right on time. The service call was $250 out of the gate. I thought that part was high! But I did know that in advance! Then whatever parts may be necessary was additional. He literally had to take the whole interior of the stove apart to get at the pilot light using non electric hand tools. It took over an hour of hard labor squatting on the balls of his feet. He had the correct part with him which was another $200 plus tax, and Voila, my stove was/is working beautifully. I am very pleased with their service and would call them again (hopefully not for 8 more years!) but like I said it was pricey, and it didn't help matters that I tried to get non-specialists to fix it prior to hiring Jack. He knew exactly what the problem was and came prepared to fix it that morning.
