Mike McCormick is EXTREMELY conservative.  This is a good thing from your accountant, but I compare his style to someone who goes 45 MPH on the freeway because he doesn't want to exceed the speed limit.  When you ask him about tax ideas to reduce taxes he gives you all the reasons why you shouldn't implement your tax reduction plans instead of helping you do the things necessary to operate within the tax laws while still reducing your taxes.  Always negative feedback without the willingness to find a way to reduce taxes. After I complained about a 25% increase in my tax preparation fees, from $3400 to $4300, and asked him for a quote to prepare my taxes for the 2009 tax year, Mike stopped responding to my calls.  On April 13, 2010 (2 days before filing date) I finally was able to reach him.   At that time he told me he did not have the time to prepare my taxes, nor did he have the time to fill out the 1 page form to file an extension.  Mike had prepared my taxes for almost 20 years, but suddenly he no longer had the time to prepare my taxes nor did he have the professionalism to call me to tell me.  This was an obvious and unprofessional attempt at retaliation for my questioning the 25% increase in his tax preparation fees.
