Auto Service
Yes, I recommend this pro
$3,000
I knew Leon and his brother Morris when they had Vic's auto in Santa Monica. When they moved and purchased their own shop in Winnetka I continued to go there even for major service on all my cars. In July one of the piston blew in our 2004 Hyundai. I first thought of taking it to a Hyundai dealer since it had to be towed and I am in Los Angeles but every dealer I spoke with wanted at least $600 to break the engine down just to see what needed to be done. Repair work would then be decided and estimates went from getting a new engine to complete rebuild with the cost being a minimum of $5k. I chose to have the car towed to 101 Auto Repair and have them look at the car. After doing some simple diagnostic tests on the cylinders they told me they would break down the engine and it is was as bad as they thought so they gave me a choice of getting an engine with similar miles on it or letting them rebuild for around $3K. After breaking down the engine they found one of the cylinders badly cracked and I then decided to have them rebuild the engine. They did so and since they had to take it out,  they replaced the timing belt which was overdo to be changed along with the water pump. It took a week for them to complete the work but when i got the car back it ran better than when I first bought it from the dealer ( it was a used car when I purchased it).  The car has been fixed now for a couple of months and still runs like a new car. Even the small squeaks and rattles I used to hear are all gone and have not come back. I was shown the broken piston and bad parts and when the engine was redone it looked brand new.  I have had such great success with 101 auto repair over the years I should have written something about them a long time ago. Between their shop in Santa Monica and now their place off Winnetka Ave in the Valley I have been using them for over 30 years.
