The owner told me it would take no more than 2 days and it took 2 weeks. He told me the hang up was because he did not get to talk to me over a $6 filter. I would never go there again.

It went very well, as usual. On time and a short wait in the waiting area. Comfortable seating, local news papers. My husband had been using this provider for around 30 years and they have earned our trust.

This was my third and final visit to Drive Rite. My prior experiences had left me feeling I spent too much money for too little service. For example, on a prior visit, Drive Rite claimed that my car needed hundreds of dollars in repairs to fix an oil leak; another mechanic was able to find the source of the leak and repair it for less than $100, so I have continued to have my vehicle serviced at this other auto repair shop. However, when I called my preferred shop last week, they could not fit me in before I am scheduled to leave on a road trip, so I decided to give Drive Rite another chance. When I called Drive Rite to schedule the appointment, I told them that I wanted to have the fluid leak and windshield sprayer repaired before leaving town on vacation, and they scheduled me to come in a few days later. They alerted me they would need the car for the full day to complete the repairs. When I inquired about a loaner vehicle or rental vehicle, they informed me they do not offer this convenience, and referred me to a car rental agency in the next town, at a cost of roughly $70 for the day. When I dropped my vehicle off at about 8:30, I agreed to pay $45 for Drive Rite to diagnose the fluid leak, and $45 for them to diagnose the windshield sprayer failure. About mid-day, they called and requested authorization to charge yet another $45 because diagnosis of the windshield sprayer was proving difficult. I replied that I felt trapped - I was already in for about $150 at this point - and stated that I needed my car to work for my upcoming vacation so I reluctantly gave them authorization to proceed. I was also informed that these diagnostic fees would not be applied toward the cost of repair. I left my house at about 3:30 for an appointment, and headed to Drive Rite afterward, children in tow, to find out the status of my vehicle because I had not heard anything since mid-day. The gentleman at the counter explained that he had not been able to reach me at home and that they had worked up a full estimate for the proposed repairs. I was astounded – they had my vehicle all day, they had been told I needed repairs completed before I went out of town, they knew I was paying good money to rent a car while mine was in the shop – and all they had for me was a proposal to spend more money. And when I inquired when they might be able to complete these repairs, I was asked to step aside while they helped other customers and made some calls to find out when they could get the replacement windshield sprayer motor. About 15 minutes later, as my children grew restless, I was told that the windshield sprayer motor could not be obtained until the very day I am scheduled to leave on my road trip. At this point, I was so exasperated, I handed over a credit card and asked for my car keys so I could leave and return my expensive rental car. Another 10 minutes or so passed while they “wrote up the paperwork” and helped other customers. I approached the service desk again and stated that I simply wanted to leave, could they please charge my credit card and give me my car key. My kids were asking questions and I explained that I had spent over $200 and yet my car had not been repaired, nothing was fixed and would not be fixed in time for our trip to the mountains. During this conversation, my 8 year old son piped up and said, “Mom, I’ll give you $50 from my bank account. It’ll be OK.” Ultimately, Drive Rite offered to mail me the paperwork and I left, having learned an expensive lesson.
