J & J Painting & Decorating

7 years ago Jim & his partner painted the exterior of our stucco home. We changed the color and the paint is still holding up well. This year (2018), Jim painted our family room after we had a water leak. He is patient and professional. We will hire him again.

After reviewing appraisals from five painting contractors, we awarded the job to J&J Painting and Decorating based on our previously set criteria: - Responsiveness: Joon (owner) is very prompt and clear in answering queries in-person, phone or text. - Cost: Bid was in line with other contractors coming in midway between the lowest and highest amounts. We asked Joon to include a separate line if we chose to upgrade the entire project to premium paint above and beyond what other contractors recommended (we did, and it's worth it). Joon included the Angie's List discount when we mentioned it. After the project: - Salvador and Joaquin worked consistently and carefully. Each area was repaired (if needed), taped and covered before painting. We appreciated they took the time at the end of each day to straighten out their equipment into one area of the yard and cover it. - Stucco Repair: Our house had numerous visible cracks in the stucco and Joon's team drew on knowledge from a stucco repair professional to visibly reduce the appearance of the repair. - Education: Joon demonstrated willingness to educate us before, during and after the project on the process and what to expect regarding the life span of the paint. For example, because we have non-wood doors and shingle features susceptible to oxidation/sun damage, he included a primer to extend the life of the paint. - Follow-up (warranty): Joon and his team reiterated that if we found any areas needing attention after the job completion, please call and they will come out to address it.

This is the second house we had the exterior painted by Joon. Again, he and his staff did an excellent job. We will continue to hire J & J for our painting needs.

I was very impressed with Joon. From the beginning he was very professional, he really listened to our needs and offered options on how to make the job fit within our budget. He was very prompt with his followup, I got a detailed written estimate the same day. His estimate was not the lowest but we sensed that his work was quality and it was. His customer service is top notch.. His crew was also very professional and respectful. We are very happy with the result and would recommend him to anyone.

The owner is responsive when you call, but it was a bad experience. His uncle was working for him, and couldn't communicate very well. I had asked for two coats on everything that was included in the estimate, and he said it wasn't necessary. He kept trying to argue with me. His was quite a mediocre painter. He would drip paint on the sides of the walls as he was painting something else. I would tell him when that would happen, and he was not happy that I did that.

He was recommended through the Angie's List app, so I was quite disappointed. 
It took him two days. They could've done the painting better and protected more of the surfaces they were painting on. He dripped paint that I had to clean up afterwards. He didn't clean up after himself either. It could've all been done better. It was really annoying because the paint didn't cover the first time. That's why I wanted the second coat. I would stay away from these people.

Joon was excellent. I received several estimates and his was definitely the best price for the amount of work that was performed. He was kind and honest and was able to work around my schedule of getting new windows installed as well. They removed lots of old stone that was attached to the exterior of my house and re-stucco the areas. The paint job was excellent and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Very well. Joon, the owner, gave us a quote which he honored even 10 months later when we began the work. Two guys, Juan and Julio, worked for five days to complete the job. They did a lot of prep including caulking, scraping, grinding, and sanding. They even went over and above by sealing up the chimney flashing with tar and also repairing a couple of areas on my sundeck. The bondo repair on my sundeck saved me the added expense of replacing a number of boards. The team is to be commended for the quality of work and responsiveness to my requests as the work was performed. Juan, the foreman, took all of my suggestions to heart performing everything to my expectation. Joon, the owner, came by twice to inspect and ensure that work was performed to our high standards. He was also very responsive to attending to my suggestions. All in all, it was a very good experience for us. Our newly painted house looks great! We would hire them again in a hearbeat.

We are EXTREMELY pleased with the quality of work and final product!!!  Joon was very professional and a great communicator beginning with the estimate all the way through to the final product. His crew was skilled, accommodating and always friendly.  We had repair work, three different colors (and a change) and many requests that were always accommodated and completed as we requested.  We highly recommend Joon and his crew and will use them for any of our future painting needs.  A+ service and quality!

Terrible! set three appointments which Joon did not show for any of them. The last one he did not even show or call AND he set the time to meet!! Very unprofessional.
