Work was completed in a day.  Unlike the other laminate contractor I met with who tried to make you sign a contract on the spot, Jim was very easy to work with.

Jim and his partner arrived as scheduled with all necessary materials. They worked quickly and efficiently with no disruption to the rest of the household. As promised, the work was completed in less than a day. Everything went very well and we are quite pleased.

We called Gagne flooring in the afternoon and he was at our house that evening to give us an estimate. He measured and and informed us that the stairs are the hardest part of the install and was very upfront about some of the difficulties that stairs can pose.
The price for whole job was very reasonable and I liked that fact that he really spent a lot of time explaining about the stairs and some of the things we could run into during the install. Those things never materialized but it was nice to know if they did he could handle it.
He showed up on time Monday morning and he was done the next day with everything cleaned up and looking Fantastic.
We had thought about buying our flooring at one of the Box Sores and then having someone install it. We would not have saved any money doing it that way and would have had to buy all the molding and transitions off a website.
James is a great guy and I highly recommend him.

Called up Jim for hardwood flooring installation, about 750 sq ft. He had laid down some
floors for me 4 years ago, and did a great job, so I was glad he was available to
come back. This was for carbonized, strand-woven bamboo. I decided to
go with glue-down, based on Jim's recommendation.
Jim was on-time as always, very reasonably priced. He is a really nice guy. He could
start right away and came out with Jeff as before. They've done hundreds of
jobs together, so they make a great team with a lot of experience.
The job was performed quickly, on schedule, and with a great attention to detail.
Jim takes pride in his work and it shows. The results were even better
than I imagined. They really worked hard once again, and my wife and I are
super pleased with everything and enjoying our new floors! Perfect!

Very professional -- Jim undercut below fireplace surround to lay the floor underneath bricks instead of using molding between flooring and surround. The result is a clean professional look. He explained everything and did everything he said he would do and on time. This guy is a perfectionist. If you want a perfect job then this is the guy you want. He is the real deal; he knows how to do it, has the tools to do it and does it. The end result is a great job that you will love.

I emailed Jim late at night on Sunday, 11/25, to see if he had time during the week to come to my home to give me an estimate for laminate flooring for my downstairs. He emailed me back right away. He was able to come the next day, Monday 11/26, to measure my floor, and he brought a lot of flooring samples for me to look at. After he left, he sent me an email within two hours with a dynamite quote, and said he was available whenever I needed to have the flooring put in. Today, Sunday 12/2, he installed my flooring. So, within one week from the first email to Jim, I had new flooring!
Jim always called and showed up when he said he would. He gave me an outstanding quote, and did a phenominal job! My new flooring is just beautiful! He matched the quarter round strips to the color of my base boards and kitchen cabinets. He aligned the flooring with the bricks of my fireplace flawlessly. The quality of the flooring is top of the line, and the quality of his workmanship is impressive. His pricing is very, very reasonable. He and his worker came at 8:00 am and were finished by 1:30 pm. Everything was cleaned up and absolutely beautiful. He is professional and very easy to work with.

From start to finish Jim was a true professional. He responded at once to my e-mails and phone calls. Came quickly to view and bid the job. Gave me a fair price and did a super job on the installation of hardwood floors in three bedrooms. They showed up on time, did the work quickly and left the job clean. I called Gagne for an estimate to replace the flooring in our living room, dining room, kitchen, entry, and hallway. He came to our home and measured out the space. We talked to him about several flooring choices. He was willing to install flooring we purchased somewhere else or from him. He showed us several samples of wood, bamboo, and laminate. After talking to him about the pros and cons of the different types of flooring, and after he showed us a new laminate style that we had not seen before, we decided on a laminate. Even though he knew we were not ready to purchase and install right away, he was not rushed and was willing to talk through all the options. Within a a day or so, he emailed us quotes on a few of the options we had discussed (which included removal of tile etc, installation of new flooring and 5in.baseboard).
Several months later we were ready to go ahead with the purchase and install. He very quickly worked us into his schedule on a weekend because that worked out best for us. Included in the $4,500 was the removal of tile in the entry, dining room, and kitchen. It also included removal of cork flooring in the hallway and carpet in the living room. When he removed the tile in the entry he found that some of the area had been patched at one point and was not level. He had to grind this area down and level it. There was no change in price for this. With two men working on this project, they were done in about a day and a half. They were very neat and very professional. The floor and baseboard look great! I would highly recommend this company.

We initially purchased laminate flooring from Lowe's with intention of installing it ourselves. After ripping out the carpet, we realized we had some problems with the subfloor. (Light concrete-type product over plywood in an upstairs condo.) We patched the holes and filled in some low spots and started to lay the flooring. However, we quickly realized the boards weren't locking together properly because the floor was still uneven. We searched Angie's List for help with and found Jim Gagne. He arrived as scheduled a few days later and suggested some solutions for the subfloor. He also said he could provide a better quality laminate and install it for less than we'd paid for the laminate from Lowe's. Lowe's graciously allowed us to return the unopened laminte (bless them!) and we had Jim repair the subfloor and install a beautiful laminate product, as well as new baseboards throughout the condo. The work was completed quickly and the floor is beautiful! Jim was a pleasure to work with - punctual, professional and a real craftsman. We are very pleased with the quality of the installation - beautiful workmanship!!!

I called several people for quotes on laminate floor and Jim gave us the best quote among all 6. We were hesitant at first but after seeing several positive reviews on Angie's list, we decided to give him a call. He sent me pictures of his previous jobs and after seeing them, I decided to have my floors done by him. Jim was very professional, he arrived on time. Explained to me what was going to happen and was patient with me when I would ask him questions. He was very careful when he removed my carpet because he knew that I was going to give it to a friend. The work was done in 2 days and the house was very clean! He vacummed/mopped the entire house and showed us the work he did. I love my floor, it's laminate but it looks like real wood! Jim was a professional from start to finish, gave me ideas on demo work that I could do to save some money, and if there were some color discrepancies in the flooring he would mix and align them out first before he placed them. His work on the stairs were flawless! Overall very satisfied

We contacted Jim after finding him on craigslist, and he gave us a great price for the work. He then came to our home (he called when he was a little late due to traffic), where he measured the rooms and provided us with the exact numbers. After contacting him through email, we set up a date to do the work (Saturday), where he was exactly on time, worked very hard for a day and a half and did an excellent job with our floors. We bought the wood from a nearby store. The floors in each room are even, and he did a very nice job with the cuts around the edges of the walls and doorways. He was extremely professional and courteous and provided a very organized bill at the end that included all of the receipts for the materials. We will likely use him again in the future to do the stairs and master bedroom.

Jim is a consummate professional. He was thorough in his explanation in regards to what he was able to do, he answered all our questions about what other contractors wanted to do to level the floor (without being negative) and gave his reasoning for his methods. He also encouraged us to do as much of the demo work and other items ourselves to save on cost. The work was done during our vacation over 5 days, they cleaned up almost 100% inside and out, and the quality of the flooring and finish was outstanding. I couldn't recommend them enough.
