From the time Gary quoted the work through the date of completion, I was at ease. His professionalism and attention to customer service is fantastic. Adding new french doors required a number of things be made code-compliant, so it wasn't a simple installation. Before we started this project, we were concerned about cutting an opening in a support wall, but Gary really inspired confidence and did a great job.
Gary's team provided site prep, handled the building permits, performed demolition and framing (including a sheer wall), re-routed some electrical wires, installed an external light and switch, and insulated. They also installed the doors, replaced the stucco that had to be removed for the sheer wall work, painted, and did all the finishing work necessary to make the door, carpet, and paint perfect.
The crew did a great job of cleaning up the worksite everyday. All the people that came to work on the project were pleasant and professional. Gary stopped by almost every day to monitor progress and handle any issues. He was always here to meet with the building inspectors also. nytime a potential issue came up, Gary let me know what it was and how they could handle it. I never felt like there was a lack of communication. If Gary couldn't come by on any given day during construction, he would always call to let me know what progress was made that day and what would be happening the following day.
Haven and Associates wasn't the least expensive quote we got, but I can say that they are worth every penny. I can't say enough good things about the service we received. Gary will be the first (and only) person we call for any future remodeling needs.

I engaged a bathroom designer so that I would not have to hassle with all the subcontractors, permits, etc. but the work and the money going out to Bella Design and Kevin O'Connor was quite an experience. Gary Haven was one of his contractors. Gaqry came out to discuss the plans, to measure, to see the large items purchased, and to figure out his costs. He is great to work with. He did delay on giving me the ballpark figure of his costs and when he did, it was too costly. His price was more than the larger main bathroom where I took the shower out of the bath and constructed a new standing shower. j

I was lucky in that I wasn't working much at the time of this job so I could keep an eye on it. There was a great deal of care taken both inside and out to protect for example, debris from getting into my pool and excessive dust form getting on my furniture. The pool deck which new was carefully covered with plywood. The teams of workers, installers, painters and stucco repair were always on time. They were very polite and cleaned up before leaving for the day. Gary stopped by nearly ever day to see how things were going.There were little extras which I appreciated them doing such as a little stucco repair that was not associated with the windows or door, tacking down some lose shingles and figuring out why my new draperies were not hanging right and corrected the situation. Whenever I decided to do something more than originally discussed, Gary let me know how much it would be. I feel very fortunate to have chosen Haven and Associates. This was the first time in many years that I had needed a contractor and the last the contractor did the job poorly. See above. In retrospect some contractors that I interviewed could clearly not have done the job. They were proud that they kept costs down by working by themselves with one helper. Fine maybe if you have a year. SO

Do check that a contractor is licensed, insured and bonded by going in the CA website. Just Google CA licensed contractors should get you there. Do make sure a contractor is really suited for your job. Get some local referals. Expect to pay more than the contracted price as there are things that the contractor can not anticipate and you might want to add on extra work yourself.
Do make sure you get a good vibe from whoever you select.
