We 100% recommend Greg Oakland. After interviewing many painters we hired Greg to paint the exterior of our house, the deck, the concrete block wall that surrounds our house, removed the gutters, and provided new trim around the windows. He provided us with a professional and fair quote including references, proof of insurance, and a detailed job description. He was courteous and provided us with professional recommendations and accommodated us with our every need. When we were not quite sure how to solve a particular problem he would work with us and often provided a mockup to help arrive at a solution. After the project was complete we had other trades working against the house that resulted in the need for paint touch ups. Greg stopped by the next day and the touch ups were complete. We are extremely happy with the final product and would not hesitate to use or recommend Greg Oakland again.

Excellent work - very thorough and neat. Very local to Westchester so knows the neighborhood and what the houses are like. Also very easy to work with and responsive. Finished product is beautiful. Only downside is he only has one crew and does one job at a time, so usually have to wait a couple of months for your turn. But it's worth the wait

We initially called Greg to address peeling paint on the front siding of our house. He gave us a thorough inspection of the entire house exterior and advised us on replacing the siding with hardiplank and repainting the entire house and garage. We were a bit surprised at first because we had been told the texcote paint job we had done nine years ago was supposed to last a lifetime and was holding up pretty well except for sprinkler damage on two side walls. In the end, we decided to go with Greg's advice to give our 1949 home a facelift, preserve the stable texcote painting by painting over it now rather than waiting for it to start cracking, and repair damages listed above. Greg is reliable, friendly and a pleasure to work with from start to finish and his crew did a splendid job, especially with carpentry repairs. No one can outdo this company for thoroughness of prep and commitment to excellence. Greg provides a great in-house service and we were happy with the contractor referral he gave us for the siding replacement as well.

Beyond amazing! Greg and his crew are truly professionals and their work is excellent. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Not only did they paint the entire exterior and interior, but they repaired the cement driveway, installed new screens on the vents, repaired a few of the interior doors, installed address numbers and helped me find a few other specialty technicians to complete my remodel - all of whom did excellent work as well. Greg really goes beyond the scope of his job!

This job turned out absolutely beautiful. This is an old house and there were numerous spots where the paint was peeling down to the plaster. His crew spent two days just doing the prep work. They meticulously repaired the cracks. The peeling paint was removed and the walls were sanded or plastered to look like new. I told him that I was getting new carpeting so they prepped and sanded the quarter round around the baseboard so that the the old paint with carpet fibers was removed. Now it won't matter how high the pile is the baseboard will look nice. I have never had a painter that was as thorough preparing the walls and woodwork for paint and it absolutely shows in the final product. I also must compliment him on his crew. They were prompt, polite, neat and very talented. They went to work as soon as they arrived. They cleaned up the work area when they were finished. They sealed off the other rooms in order to keep the dust down. They did a beautiful work. Greg was not the lowest quote for this job but I was impressed with what he said that he was going to do. My trust in him was well founded. He may have been a little more expensive but the final product was worth every penny. I am already planning my next project for him!

In 2011 Greg Oakland Painting painted the downstairs rooms, (living room, dining room, kitchen, family area, game room, downstairs hallway, stairwell and upstairs hallway); removed ?popcorn? ceiling in all areas; and replaced all baseboards with taller baseboards. The ?popcorn? ceiling was hard plaster over radiant heating coils and so required careful chipping and sanding and a smooth coat of plaster before primer and paint. No coils were damaged and the heating elements remain operational. Greg Oakland Painting also painted the master bath and downstairs half bath. Many colors were painted on different walls so I could see the change in color appearance as the light changed during the day. Suggestions and guidance were invaluable in determining the final color selection. Because the rooms flow from one into another, color selection was very important. Greg Oakland Painting helped get it right. I like my new colors. Greg Oakland Painting, Co. workers were always courteous, worked quietly, were on time and professional. All employees were in uniform 100% of the time and so it was easy to identify crew members. Excellent advice and years of expertise are as valuable as the paint job. In February 2013 the third phase of painting, interior, was undertaken. The first step was to remove the ?popcorn? ceiling in two bedrooms with careful chipping of the plaster 'popcorn', sanding, and a smooth coat of plaster before primer and paint. Walls were painted and new taller baseboards were installed. Existing closet structures were removed. With more than 30 years in the business Greg Oakland Painting, Co. is experienced and enjoys a proven track record in the Westchester and Playa del Rey areas. These years in the business have proved valuable in helping in the selection of paint colors. I have received many compliments on the choice of colors, especially the accent wall areas. As in previous jobs, Greg Oakland Painting, Co. employees were always professional, on time, courteous and in uniform 100% of the time. I first saw a Greg Oakland Painting job sign at a house a couple of blocks from my home. It was easy to see that the work was quality work because of the extensive preparation being done before the actual paintingbegan. I called and requested an estimate for exterior painting of my home. Greg Oakland Painting?s bid was neither the highest nor the lowest bid; it was a very reasonable bid. My house, built in 1974-75, needed an exterior paint job. Upon removal of the original rain gutters, Greg found that the facia board required replacement. (Seems the termites had been enjoying breakfast, lunch and dinner for a long, long time.) Greg replaced 95 % of the facia board on both stories of the house. The size of the facia is a custom size and required additional cuts and fitting. This additional work and the cost involved were thoroughly discussed prior to the facia replacement. Greg Oakland Painting also provided guidance in the selection of a rain gutter company and in the style and size of new rain gutters. With more than 30 years in the business Greg Oakland Painting is experienced and enjoys a proven track record in the Westchester and Playa del Rey areas having painted a number of homes multiple times. These years in the business proved valuable in helping in the selection of the stucco color and trim color. I have received a number of inquires and compliments on the exterior appearance of my home. The job went perfectly. We selected Greg Oakland Painting because we watched his men paint the house across the street. We saw how they prepared that house, how clean they left the area, and how beautiful the house looked. We wanted the same job done on our home. We were not disappointed. The Greg Oakland painters painted our house with the attention to detail as though they were painting their own home. They cleaned up after themselves every day. We love the color scheme of the house, the house looks beautiful.

It took something over two months for my turn to come up with Greg and his crew. Even though there was some shaky weather, completion was promised in six working days and was delivered. As expected with quality work, the majority of the time went into preparation. This included replacement of a window sill damaged by dry rot, the clever repair of a stucco separation along a boundary wall by use of toggle bolts and fill in of other wall separations. After a regular sanding, it was clear that my front door needed to be stripped and restained if it was going to be returned to its original state. This took a full day of chemicals and steel wool to achieve. Trenching all around the house to ensure the integrity of the stucco and to provide a paint barrier below ground was included. Unfortunately some plants along the foundation have still not recovered from this nevertheless important step. The workmen were diligent and no corner cutting was to be seen. The job probably could have been done cheaper but most certainly not better.

Getting the Oakland crew to the work site is the biggest hurdle because they are well booked and have a single crew. This crew, however, includes long term employees, a really good sign. The painter that did my bathroom had also done my interior more than a decade before. The reason - among others - that I stick with Oakland is that their edges are really straight. That makes a big difference in an older house.

Greg is quite busy so we had to wait 4 months for the job to start but it was well worth the wait. His crew came in and power washed the structure and dug a trench around the house. They then painted the house and completed the wood repairs which came out beautifully. Greg offered an alternative color for the house which we accepted and are very pleased we did.

Greg and his team are very professional always on time, very detail oriented and very clean. A few days after the job was done, Greg called me to make sure everything was to our liking, he even came by to do a little touch up for us. We also had Greg look over the exterior of our house as this also needs painting, I liked his honesty in telling us that we should replace the roof and rain gutters before we get it painted, so we aren't doing the work twice. We will be calling him back once we are ready to paint the exterior.

They arrived right on time each day and were very respectful of our living habits. They were professional, quiet, respectful, worked hard and cleaned up each day. This job took just under 2 weeks. If extra work was needed for damaged wood, Greg explained the situation and gave us several options for taking care of the problem. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
