We hired David Riggs, owner of Creative Roofing, to completely inspect our roof on (twice). He was friendly, did not charge for inspection and fee to replace 3 broken tile was reasonable (N/C 1st broken tile; other 2 tiles he charged $100/each). After each roof inspection, Dave assured us our roof was fine and not to worry. If we’d know of the potential time bomb relating to our tile roof, we would have insisted Dave proceed as soon as possible to fit it (clean the valley’s) and gladly paid for the additional roof work, which we ended up doing anyway, in addition to all the post-storm damage. mod-March 2016 (shortly after the last roof inspection) there was a storm and soon after we found water and mold damage to 1 inside upstairs wall (room) – and the area was far away from where Mr. Riggs had replaced tiles. CSAA said: You should have your roof inspected before the rainy season and we recommend it be done annually. We told them 1 month prior to the storm, we had hired Creative Roofing to inspect our roof, and at which time, the owner had said our roof was fine (after replacing 2 tiles) and said not to worry... Per CSAA, our house is 16 years old and over time of many years, dirt, pigeon droppings etc. accumulate in the tile roof’s valleys. It rains and mounds of dirt in the valley divert the water – so, it’s important to hire a reputable roofer who not only replaces broken tile, but who also cleans / removes the accumulated debris from your roof valleys. In our case, per what the insurance company told us, the rain was diverted by build-up in the tile valleys, causing the rain to run down and into our wall, onto the wall baseboard and carpet… By the time we noticed a wet carpet and mold behind photos, it was too late: mold had set-in, and there was no quick fix. The project lasted 4 weeks (which we were told was comparably short) and it was costly (insurance did not cover anything having to do with the mold damage). Different companies were hired to handle the mold & water damage, remove & build a new wall, remove & insert new baseboards, paint wall & baseboards and remove the old carpet etc. Being our homeowners’ coverage excluded mold damage, we were responsible for paying for all of that and add our deductible; our share was hefty. I coordinate my time with the insurance company and various workers. All the while, my spouse was ill, recovering from surgery, so besides the cost, and worry, I was emotionally drained. To avoid this from something similar from happening, have your roof inspected annually by a reputable roofing company.

Quite well. They did what they said they would do when they said they would do it. Explained everything, answered all questions. The roof and gutter work looks great. They were efficient and cleaned up after themselves. One of best experiences with contractors ever. The owner Dave, provided his license number, was in good standing with California licensing board. They were bonded.

I had a serious leak over my front door that had badly stained the wall. Dave came promptly and said that he would look at the roof.
About a half an hour later he came back and said that it had been an easy fix; that some of the tiles directly over the door had slipped and water had gone through the paper under the tiles.  He said that he had re glued the tiles and that I shouldn't have any more problems but, if I did, he could come back and put new paper in.  He said that there was no charge for the work that he had done as he didn't charge for the first visit! I couldn't believe that he had fixed the problem for free.  He was professional and quickly performed the work.  I will always call him first for any other roofing problems and highly recommend him!
