The initial call to Larry was primarily to have him come and provide an estimate. He arrived 10 minutes early, which I loved. He was also prepared to work! He was professional, asked what was needed, looked over every project and determined what was needed and the amount of time and cost. He utilized the time well, was tidy and proactive.

Everything was wonderful.

I called Larry Mages on a Thursday evening just before New Years eve and asked him to come to my house to clean out a drain in the bathroom sink the very next morning. He arrived early and on time the next morning so I didn't have to miss work. I trust Larry completely, so I left him and his partner with a house key and went to my work. I returned home that night to find the house keys on the kitchen counter, the bathroom drain completely clear, all the parts hand-cleaned and polished, any messes created were completely cleaned up. He protected my wood floors with drop cloths, and cleaned and returned a borrowed container he used to capture goop released from pipes under the sink. He called me before he left to describe his evaluation of the water heater. We discussed it in detail. I'm still waiting to receive his bill, so I don't know what it cost, but I know it will be within reason, if past experience is any guide.

We had Larry give an estimate on a lot of projects and he was very patient during the entire time. We hired him to redo a light fixture and install a range hood. Both involved more than simply install, but removing and fixing what was previously there. Both projects were well done and look great. He was very easy to work with, had great suggestions for how to make improvements we were interested in and only focused on our needs and wants.

He didn't finish it because it needed caulking. It wasn't a bad job but it was very expensive for what it was.

Larry is very professional and thorough . We will definitely use him for other projects!

Larry arrived on time and went out of his way to assure minimal noise and mess.

He does a good job, and he recently gave an estimate for the garage work, but he was too expensive for me.

All of the work was done well, including the repair of the cabinets that I wasn't sure could be repaired. The work took several days to complete. Larry was always punctual. He always communicated about what and when he was going to do things and got in touch right away when a decision was called for.

Some of the work was done at a fixed price and some of it was done by the hour. I asked to pay for the work this way and Larry was fine with it. He has a helper who was included in the quoted rate.

Larry has a wide assortment of tools in his truck and he always came prepared.

I have been using Larry for over three years and don't know what I would do without him. I recently had a washer and dyrer replaced and it was a difficult installation because they fit behind very sensitive, custom doors and there was barely 1/16 inch clearance. Larry was integral in making the installation work. He had to take the doors off, modify the closet and then reinstall the doors and adjust them after the installation of the washer and dryer. As usual, Larry was on time, professional, helpful in figuring out solutions and is work was high quality. Although the washer/dryer people said they could do the whole installation, I wouldn't trust anyone but Larry with the doors and frankly am sure no one could have done what Larry did!

I highly recommend Mages. They are punctual, priced competitively and do great quality work. Larry provides great attention to detail, insightful recommendations and has a good eye. I have worked with several contractors in the past and Mages is top notch. I received 3 other estimates for this particular job and I am extremely satisfied with my decision to go with Mages. You will be too!

I purchased a table base to accommodate a dining table top that has been in the family for awhile. Because of the thickness of the top, the base had to be cut down to bring the overall table height to a comfortable dining height. After measuring and consulting with me, Larry and his partner took the base back to their workshop (since I live fairly close) and were back within the hour. They treated the base as though IT was an heirloom and were meticulous in placing the table top. While they were here, I also had them install a drapery rod, which they did efficiently. They cleaned up afterward, leaving the area looking better than before they had arrived!

Kind, trustworthy, prompt, attentive and meticulous. I highly recommend them!

Of the 3 handyman businesses that I called from Angie's list Larry was the only person I spoke with, the other two did not return my call. From our initial conversation Larry was professional and pleasant. Larry came to my loft and looked at the two projects which I had inquired about. His precision in working through the projects immediately made me comfortable and he later gave me an estimate which was very reasonable. His work is excellent. Last year I had a sour experience with a handyman so before Larry had arrived for his consultation my attitude of handymen had been pre-determined. I'm happy to report that Larry turned my attitude around and I highly recommend to the reader to contact Larry for your projects.

Larry came to look at the old door, tried to see if it could be fixed rather than replacing it, determined that replacing it would be best, and took all needed measurements. He sent me an estimate via email, then ordered the door. We agreed on a date for the work, but I had to reschedule at the last minute and postpone the job. Larry showed up at the new time and date with everything he needed. When he arrived, I mentioned that I had an unexpected work meeting and had to leave by a certain time. The job was finished quickly and professionally, and in time for me to get to my work commitment. Good craft, good price, good communication - overall, a very positive experience.

I was VERY happy with Larry's work. I was in a bind and needed the job done asap so he actually worked on a holiday to get it done! He was meticulous in making sure the job, although relatively small, was done to my exacting standards. He has a very impressive truck full of tools and equipment and I had confidence that any problem that might come up was not insurmountable. He was neat and organized while working on the job, ensuring everything was covered and nothing around the job would get damaged or dirty. His attention to detail and fastidiousness is very hard to find. Believe me, I've looked!

Larry Mages is very smart. He is punctual, honest, and offers good advice. He is a creative problem solver with excellent design sense. He is experienced in building homes from the ground up. He does excellent work, and cleans up after himself. Larry doesn't always return calls as quickly as I'd like, but he will eventually get back to me. I complained to Larry once that he wasn't calling my referrals back and it made me look bad. He admitted fault and corrected the problem. Over the years Larry has done a lot of small jobs for me and I keep calling him back for more because I know I can count on him to show up on time and do the job right. He is trustworthy. I'm comfortable giving him a house key and leaving him alone in the house.
