First of all, we loved Brent. The minute you meet him, you realize that he knows his stuff. While many landscape designers seem to have fallen into the job from a love of gardening, this guy has actually studied this stuff in college and has a degree in horticulture. He knows names, blooming periods, and so on. He even advised us on plant selection based on the sub-climate of the North Hollywood hills. He is very imaginative and has a good eye. We felt very comfortable letting him develop his vision for the space and following his advice. I'm sure that even if you are very particular (which we were not), he'd be easy to work with. We love our yard. Some stuff is still pending because we are waiting on custom planters, but the rest is beautiful.
Because of his expertise, he is a little more expensive than others. The initial quote was way out of our range, but he worked to reduce the price by half. Even so, the sheer number of plants was more than on other quotes, though some of the trees were younger (a cost-saving measure with which I was more than OK). Also, he is busier, and may not be able to start right then and there. For us, he had an opening two weeks down the line. Still, we had a few unfortunate delays on our job, but he threw in some extra hedges. The beauty of the yard makes any minor inconveniences insignificant.
His hardscape guy, Martin, put in some travertine tile set on cement, as well as some detailed artificial turf. I had turf installed previously, and Martin's quality was way superior. Again, he was also more expensive than others had quoted me.
Overall, my wife and I highly recommend Brent, have recommended him to friends, and will surely use him again, if needed.

Both projects were a rounding success. Brent Green was personally involved with every aspect of the projects. His design concepts proved to be a perfect fit for our neighborhood. His crews were always on-time, always cleaned up after themselves, and, perhaps most important, were always right on budget.

We were very impressed with Brent's thoughtfulness and attention to details in the design and planning stages of the project. He displayed a comprehensive knowledge of the appropriate plants and flowers required both to complement our home (a 1922 English Tudor revival) and to thrive in the Southern California climate. Brent is a great listener and was able to bring our unsophisticated ideas about our dream home landscape to glorious life. He suggested a material, vintage broken concrete, for the construction of the hardscape elements. That choice perfectly complemented the style of the home, allowed us to recycle some of our previous hardscape elements, and saved considerable cost over our initial flagstone ideas. His team and hardscape subcontractor were easy to work with, and Brent oversaw every aspect of the project. As the house is located in an LA Planning Dept HPOZ, we had to present the project to a local board for appropriateness of design. Brent gladly assisted with the presentation and attended the board meeting, even though it was scheduled after 7:30P on a Thursday and he had no child care. His daughter patiently waited two hours during the entirety of the meeting.

The total cost of the project was almost 40% less than other bids with similar scopes of work. I had mentioned to Brent, early in the process, how important this project was to my wife. I told him to "make me a hero". He did that and more.

Brent Green is the best in town! He is so artfully talented and a graduate of Horticulture with unsurpassed knowledge of plants and trees. Brent’s designs have been featured in Sunset magazine on more than one occasion. He is a great guy to work with and has a talented crew. He is a professional; he will return your calls, arrives on time and is fair and gets the job done on time. He transformed our yard into the most beautiful garden consistent with the style of our Mid Century house which welcomes the garden into the house. He is truly amazing!

"(removed member name) I really enjoyed working with you and your wife (removed member name) on the transformation of your garden spaces. Your Mid Century Modern, 'abundantly glass' home provides a great opportunity for a wonderful, indoor/outdoor flow. Your garden areas are now a series of intimate, private "outdoor rooms" complete with the sound of water, & seating and all tied together with wonderful plantings. Thank you again for the opportunity to work on your lovely home."

Brent and Cheryl are a husband and wife team. Brent does the creative, and Cheryl manages the bills. Brent is extremely talented as a designer. His knowledge of plants and his vision are commendable. He did transform our yard into an amazing oasis, but I will never recommend his services to anyone because of the company's pure lack of professionalism. He is unresponsive to emails, texts, and phone calls (except when they need a payment) and unreliable (he or his crew will show up on un-scheduled days and no show on scheduled appointments). It has been a nightmare to work with GreenArt because there is a breakdown of communication between Brent and Cheryl. As usual, they are great during the initial consult and beginning stages, but as soon as another job comes along, good luck! Brent has caused me more migraines than my backyard is worth.

IT WAS SUCH A PLEASURE TO WORK WITH BRENT. HE IS TRULY AN ARTIST AND YOUR YARD IS HIS CANVAS. HE HAS CREATIVE IDEAS TO ADDRESS CHALLENGING AREAS OF YOUR PROPERTY AND COMMAND OF WHAT PLANTS WILL OR WON'T WORK. HE ENJOYED TAKING THE TIME TO WORK WITH MY NOVICE UNDERSTANDING OF FLOWERS AND PLANTS. CREWS WERE ON TIME, PLEASANT, RELIABLE.
