A painter was hired who spray painted Suprema on my trim and doors. As it turned out, the product worked terribly for me. Over the past year, the paint never hardened beyond the somewhat tacky stage. The doors when closed, doors stick to the door stop in the door frames. When opened, they open with a "pop," sometimes paint in the areas of contact are ripped off & stick to the door stop, leaving some door paint on the door stop. Nothing can be placed on the fireplace mantle top because objects stick to the mantle top which is painted of course with Suprema. This is in contrast to my book shelves which were painted with a Sherwin Williams product that hardened perfectly and nothing sticks to it. Unfortunately Suprema is the product that the Dunn Edwards store suggested would be good for my application.
I complained to Dunn Edwards who sent out a sales person and later at a second visit accompanied by a second company representative. They both insisted the paint was performing normally and was not defective and should be a good product for my application. The both refused to even talk about the problem of the doors having their paint ripped off when stuck to the frames, even when I repeated the question numerous times, there was no answer of any type. They did however offer the suggestion of coating the fireplace mantle top with a clear varnish. Instead, I coated the mantle top with Sherwin Williams "Solo" and the problem is 100% solved.
Overall, it was a rotten experience with a company that refused to acknowledge their product created problems. I'm having my doors re-coated by a different contractor who will use the Sherwin Williams Solo product.
