Just had my new wood shingle roof finished by Kennedy Roofing. (3500+ sg ft) Specatular job! The roofers have been working for Sam Kennedy for 20 plus years. It's a smaller crew, and they took their time to do the job right..It was not a rush to get to the next job. My family felt safe with Sam's team, as they were very nice and professional.  In fact the city inspector told me that it was one of the best roofing jobs he has seen in years.I got their name froma  friend who had his roof redone recently, and he gave Kennedy a good referral as well. I'm not sure what Chris S. is talking about. We used B grade medium shake and my neighbors all comment that the shingles look high quality. Overall very pleased and would use again.

They were right on time. They did exactly what they said they were going to do. They did a very good of it. They were easy to work with and very reliable. They cleaned up after themselves. It's like the cleanup took us much time as the work. We were very pleased with their workmanship. There was nothing that we disliked. Their pricing was very fair.

Workers seemed professional,. but we ended up with a leak in one bathroom. It took 3 tries to fix that leak (caused - we think - by the power washing since we had survived the heavy rains of winter 2010). Roof looked good, but we needed the leaks fixed. It was hard to reach Sam Kennedy, and to get him to get to the necessary fix. Happy to report that more than a year later, we seem to be free from leaks.

Sam Kennedy, the owner, was very punctual and did excellent work. I had the shakes replaced with a comp roof. and also brand new gutters and down spouts. He was able to recycle the majority of the shakes. He did excellent work in the time that he said it would take. He was very professional. The roof looks excellent. I am very happy that I chose Kennedy Roofing

I have a composition shingle roof. I made a point of telling them that I have dogs and that I didn't want them stepping on any of their little nails or tacks. I agree that they made an attempt to get the metal nails or tacks up but they did not get them all up. I was lucky that I found them instead of my dogs finding them in their feet. They could have done a better job getting the metal nails up. They asked if they could put up a sign board which said and ldquo;roof restored byand rdquo; and I said I was fine with it. It was up for about a month and then I called them and asked if they could come and take off the sign. I kept calling and months went by but they never picked it up so I finally just took it down. Their price was pretty good but I didn't like their clean up. They got here when they said they were going to get here and they worked when they said they were going to do. The big thing for me was the nails because I had made a point that I had dogs and that it was really important to clean it up.

We decided to go along with our duplex neighbor and have Kennedy Roofing power-wash our roof (after 18 years with no maintenance), repairing cracked and missing shingles as necessary Then they oiled the clean shingles to give additional protection from the elements. They were friendly and worked hard, and the finished job looked good. They arrived on time, and finished on time. We like the 5-year guarantee, and the fact that they got back to us when we had a concern. There hasn't been enough rain yet this year to check for leaks, but we don't anticpate any.

The power washing left lots of debris around the outside of our place. They covered the upper decks with plastic, but none of the gardens. Decks were well-cleaned up, but, alas, some of the plants on the ground level were left pretty dirty - although they made some attempt at cleanup. They were very good at removing and replacing patio furniture. We wish they had covered the plants, but we were able to clean them the next day.

Dan, the friendly contact man, came back to work on our gutters (for an additional $600). He cleaned them, painted with anti-rust paint, and then installed covering to keep out leaves, etc. Again, he came in timely fashion, and finished on time.

We had to wait until it had stopped raining and for the roof to dry out before they could come back and put on the oil to seal it. They had to let it dry because the shingles are wood. It was excellent. My roof looks really nice. I am supporting them and I still have a sign advertising them in my front yard. I would recommend others to use them. They were good. They had quite a team here. They said they would probably be back in 5 to 7 years when they could go and do this again.

Kennedy Roofing did a very good job repairing our shake roof, so I decided to ask them to quote us for our rental house. We covered several options. The existing shake roof needed a lot of repair. They were willing to do it, but said that it would need attention in two years, so unlike our other roof, they did not think it was a good value to fix the shake roof. Sam Kennedy was careful to point out some issues with out existing gutters and the construction of the eaves made it an issue to put in modern gutters, so he reviewed the options and we decided to trim the eaves to make the gutters most secure. I also wanted to upgrade the ventilation in the attic, as it would not meet existing code. He came up with a way to add ventilation grills under our porch area. He added these with no extra charge. We were on vacation while the work was done, but my house sitter said it was uneventful except for the typical noise. When we came back the works was truly excellent.

I got their name from a sign of a person in our neighborhood who had their shake roof rehabilitated. I asked them how it went and they were quite happy. I connected with Dan (sales specialist for roof rehab) and he inspected the both the roof of our house and our nearby rental. We walked both roofs with him pointing out the issues. We agreed that one roof was beyond repair, but our house was completely within reason. Since we have solar panels it is very expensive to lift them off for roof replacement, so we were highly motivated to do a repair. He gave us a quote for replacing about 400 shakes, shims, pressure wash cleaning and then conditioning with an oil made for rejuvenating shake. Doing web research was quite challenging, but Dan's advice was readily validated once I understood the issues. The workers seemed to be quite capable. The cleaning process was really messy as there was a lot of stuff that came off the roof. There is a lot of moss this time of year. That said, they cleaned up the mess at the end of the day quite well. They did a thorough job and I walked the roof and it looked very good. That is to say, it was hard to tell what was new or old because the roof looked fine. They use recycled shake so there are no obvious patches, but I could see it was in very good shape. There was one additional thing I requested since I had a known leak where I did a quickie patch in an unobvious spot where flashing came together with a flat roof. It was forgotten, but Sam came back the next day a fixed it. They ask for about 20% down, but did not ask for the final payment until it was perfect. It was not easy to find firms that do shake rehab, because most roofing firms want to replace the roof. Compared to other rehab efforts I have seen I think they did a better job.
