It with the greatest of pleasure that I recommend Hardy Quality Air for heating and air conditioning service.  Being new to the Aptos area, we were at the mercy of those service providers recommended by our real estate agent when we bought our home.  Often, real estate agents will recommend services that are good.  But in my experiences of purchasing homes (this was my 8th), I've never had anyone recommended that was as great as Hardy Quality Air.  What makes Hardy Quality Air so good?  Actually, there are several components that must be present for me to consider someone providing great service.  They must have the following attributes:* Reliability* Honesty* Excellent communication skills, both in speaking and especially in listening* Timeliness* Professionalism* Friendliness* Provides services that are fair and cost-effectiveHardy Quality Air not only met those attributes, they were able to make recommendations that made sense. They understood and supported the options we chose.  Their coordination with our schedule so that the impact of the repairs they were asked to make would be minimal was very much appreciated.  It really seemed that Darrell Hardy treated us like he would want to be treated were he receiving similar services.Incredibly, the quality of service was not just in the interactions we had with Darrell Hardy, instead it extended to every worker in that company with which we interacted.  Each and every one was courteous, had great communication skills, and was an incredibly hard worker. Finally, we were so impressed with Darrell that we asked if he knew of others companies in the area that were of comparable quality.  He went out of his way to provide us with several suggestions. Talk about service above and beyond the call of duty! There are few people I would bet on like I would bet on Darrell Hardy.  If you ever have any needs associated with heating and air conditioning I hope you will consider Hardy Quality Air.

A wonderful experience with this good, old-fashioned American business (i.e. a business where true pride of service is still king). We left a message on a Friday evening, late, to have someone come out to do an inspection of a furnace in a house in Marina we were thinking of purchasing. We received a return phone call Saturday morning. I explained our situation: Though this possible home purchase was a completely remodeled, recently "flipped" house, with new everything, including a brand new furnace, our home inspector had recommended that an expert look at this furnace because he thought the installation and operation of it were questionable and potentially costly. After a few calls to various contractors whose primary concern was my method of payment for the inspection time, Larry Bakel of Hardy Quality Air asked me a few questions and made it clear that my time was most important--not his. Larry's style was not a sales-y, crawl-up-your-you-know-what approach, but rather a kind, matter-of-fact let's-see-what-I-can-do approach. Despite a busy schedule for him, I arm-twisted him into coming out sooner than he had previously planned and he obliged. He spent a good hour looking at the furnace, checking it against manufacturer recommendations and California Mechanical Codes and then wouldn't take a dime from me! "This is what we do," he said. "When you're ready for repair, etc., give us a call. Or refer us to someone else. That's how our business works." (This is me following-through on my end of the bargain.) He had found, by the way, that this furnace had been incompetently and dangerously installed, in subtle ways, and Darrell Hardy, the principal, even provided us with a detailed report in an email so that we could submit this clear and well-written reporting to the sellers. Again, no charge. Remarkable. I phoned Larry two subsequent times, over the next few days, and he always received my call with a good smile and with patience. They've been in business for 18 years, apparently, and clearly these are the type of people who inspire trust.
