"What a pleasure working with this couple! There were a lot of needs, and not enough space, so I had to think outside the box... and that meant the footprint. But that wasn't as easy as it sounds, with setbacks, budget and other restrictions, this was going to be unique. Then it came to mind, that if a bay window can cantilever out, then so can some sinks. And that's what we did, pushed the sinks out which allowed for a larger shower, linen closet and created space! It's a beautiful compliment to the already fabulous home."

Jill immediately gave me excellent information about my project. She provided really great options. I cannot say enough good things here. She gave me questions to ask the county so I could do some legwork without having to pay anyone and let me know she would assist if my attempts failed. She gave me the straight story and that was like a breath of fresh air. She really knows her profession and takes pride in it.

"ADU's are the most requested project these days, and though there are specific rules for each city/county, a lot of the basics are the same. Knowing some of these basic parameters can give Homeowners a great deal of insight on their specific project and whether they should move forward or not. Sharing this information also gives them the ability to do some legwork on their own, and not waste time/money on 'dreaming', but what the reality actually is. Awesome, awesome, awesome. The designer Jill was so thorough, professional, helpful and most of all, she did 5-star work. She came out to my house, explained the process thoroughly, providing what I took as valuable insight about home design. Then she got right to work. Before she left she provided me with literature about the home design and what I can expect. Within days she emailed me floor plans. So easy with Jill.

Fantastic! This was a VERY tricky design project where we needed to get very creative with how to make 2 undersized and poorly planned bathrooms not only big enough and functional enough, but also do so while optimizing the other spaces they touched. Jill was exactly the right person for this job - we ultimately saved a ton, and she did what no other desing-build folks would do, which was COME to the house and look at the space, then actually put some options down on paper before we went forward with thousands on architectural drawings. Which was KEY given we couldn't even ENVISION how it would work. She came up with EXCELLENT options, listened to our feedback and suggestions, and was super responsive. The project is on hold for now due to other conflicts, but we would definitely use Jill again!

Jill spent over two hours to provide me with thorough written information about the possibilities for renovating two bathrooms as well as what to expect re: cost, choosing and working with contractors, etc. She gave me the information I needed to plan and budget for the bathroom renovations so that I can make good decisions when I am ready to begin.

As stated above, it went very well. What I contracted for was a two hour consultation. She communicated ahead of time with me about what to expect and was on time for our consult. The printed material were a bonus that I wasn't expecting, and they will be very helpful.

Jill was fantastic! She listened to us, asked great questions, and presented ideas we had not though about. Her master bath plan included everything we needed. She managed to fit it all in the limited space available by just re-arranging the elements. And it is still very open and spacious. She also came up with a clever idea to give us both a half bath and a laundry room. She put the stackable washer and dryer in a closet accessible from the hall and designed a separate half bath. Both were carved out of the space from the old master bath. We were so glad we contacted Jill. Now that we have final plans approved by the city, we will call Jill back in to help us select kitchen cabinets and other materials.

Jill first came over for an initial consultation during which time she really explained everything in detail, gave us recommendations on the space based on her extensive experience and expertise and provided us with a ton of information and tips on next steps. Since then she has been enormously responsive to our (many!) questions and request for advice. Without her help this whole process would have been so much more difficult to navigate.

My Design Consultation with Jill of Tangerinedesign went very well. My goal was to have my design questions answered related to my current space as well as a possible add-on. Jill was very prepared and brought clarity to my many concerns. With Jill’s comments I began to have a clear understanding of what I could, could not and what I should not do given the parameters and constraints of my project. I am very glad I invested the time and money to listen to a professional like Jill. I contacted others that stated they were design professionals but based on our phone conversations I did not feel comfortable moving forward with them. Jill on the other hand was clear and direct about her services. We are first-time home-buyers and owners and are beginning the remodel process. Jill came for a two-hour consult and was super knowledgeable about the permitting process and building codes, and had some clever design ideas that we hadn't considered. While we ultimately didn't opt to hire her for the entirety of our process, as the design elements are not complex, we learned a ton from the couple of hours we spent with Jill and that time ultimately allowed us to be much more knowledgeable going into meeting with general contractors.

We bought a fixer upper and how! We walked the house over and over to come up with a plan on what we wanted to do. We asked our contractor, friends, family...everybody their thoughts, however, we still found ourselves stuck. So we decided we needed professional help on design. We looked online for hours (houzz, Yelp, angieslist) to find someone that everyone loved.
After interviewing several folks that just didn't get us (we are a couple in our late 30's early 40's) we found Jill from TANGERINEdesign. We agreed on a couple of hours of consultation to walk the house. She even gave us a deal, we like deals. She arrived and she reminded me of my sister (I like my sister) -- so far so good! We walk the house and immediately she's offering suggestions and talking about things you'd never even think about like flow of the room, where to put furniture, how you live, egress windows...seriously do you know what egress windows are? We do, well now we do. Jill is more than capable in her skills and is what I would describe as a code-head. She knows code!! Needless to say after that consultation my wife and I decided she's the one. We quickly signed on and paid a retainer for services. In the end she designed our home. She did it relatively quickly and efficiently since we had a bit of a timeline. The best part is you can just tell her you don't like something and she comes back with a few more choices. This was super helpful for us.
We highly recommend Jill. Don't ever feel like you're asking her a dumb question or making ludicrous suggestions because Jill is very open to your ideas -- it is your house, after all.

Jill Finn has been a huge help to us.
Project is that of of remodeling bathrooms in connection with an update of the plumbing of our old house.
Jill responded rapidly to our request for help. She provided loads of information about the plans-permit-building process, and she promptly provided us with several different possible plans for reconstituting the bathrooms. She adjusted her schedule to work
with our timing, and once we had her plans, she made herself available, on our schedule, to walk us through them. She thought of things we hadn?t thought of, and knew relevant things we hadn?t known. She was able to show us a way of remodeling the bathrooms that would optimize their usefulness and their value to us and to future buyers of our house. She put things in a form that we could then show the builder, and get feedback from him on what the various possible plans would cost. She knew about the relevant codes, she had valuable common-sense input about some of the choices (tub/ shower..) She was very frank, very responsive, and very knowledgeable.

Besides being the most personable person I've worked with she has ability to accommodate various styles and budgets.
We have apartments that we update for the high end rental market. Jill has always provided excellent recommendations
regarding layout and material choices that appeal to the San Francisco Market. She adds design elements
that enhance a rooms appeal while budget friendly. Little "tweeks" add flair to a boring canvas that catch the renters eye.
She's done numerous remodels on "flipped" properties and is able to act as project manager, seeing the work to completion.
I'd hire her if your looking to maximize property value and "curb appeal".

I hired Jill at Tangerine Design for consultation services on a kitchen redesign at my home. She provided excellent advice on conceptual design, project organization, material selection, and project execution. She is very skilled at helping to define goals and objectives for the project including function and livability as well as style and aesthetics. She listened to my ideas and made several suggestions to provide options that I hadn't considered. Her involvement in the planning phase improved my overall design. I definitely would work with her again on future projects.

We hired Jill to help with our remodel project, which includes the kitchen, family room, and office area. I had a basic idea of what I wanted, but wanted help to make sure the flow was right. I contact Jill to discuss this project because it really didn't fit with any of the offers on Angie's list, as a couple other rooms were involved in the remodel. She was quick to respond and scheduled our first meeting within a few days, which was awesome! She provided some great input and suggestions on possible options and we decided to hire her to put some basic designs together. Another meeting was scheduled with her to take measurements of the existing layout and she was off and running. Jill emailed us with four designs, all were great, and we ultimately picked one. Even my husband liked the designs. :)

Tangerine design provided strong guidance on placing elements of the bathroom. Advised on where to place shower, toilet and vanity. This required more extensive remodeling than I had originally planned, but the design made total sense and I am delighted with the result. Jill Finn was patient and helpful in picking shower tile, floor tile and the vanity. She accompanied us to a supply store to help us pick out products. Her advise on what products to use, and the look we should go for and the layout all proved well worth it.
