My so-called agent, Walt Straub, seemed straightforward at first but when I began the paperwork for purchase, I found him making mistakes, omissions, etc., which made me nervous. Then I found him making completely false statements and almost backed out of the purchase altogether because of his lies. But I really wanted the property and therefore persisted. He made it a harrowing experience all the way through, and I just want others to go into the process with full knowledge of the dishonesty of these realtors. I managed to get through the process with only $500 in actual financial loss, but it could have been much worse. The first thing I would urge any prospective buyers is not to repeat my mistake of allowing this agency to represent both the sellers and the buyers, even if they swear up and down that the particular agents will defend their clients' interests faithfully. It's all BS. Rossmoor is a wonderful community and I'm glad to have bought here, but these folks will say anything to get you to buy; they're desperate for sales. The fact that the agency bears the name of "Rossmoor" appears to have no significance, i.e., the agency does not represent the community--I think they must have bought the right to the name at some point in the past; that's the extent of the connection. If the sellers are represented by this agency, at least GET SOMEONE FROM ANOTHER AGENCY to represent you. I have most of the "factual" statements in writing if anyone's interested in the details.
