Our kitchen remodel exceeded our expectations due to George's strong commitment to the project. George Matthews Construction Services developed plans, provided a thorough estimate, obtained city building permits, and was the general contractor for a complete re-set of an older, obsolete kitchen. As part of the job, he brought one substantive safety issue with electrical to our attention and built our new system into current compliance. He has a great eye for building materials and style that complemented our design objectives as well as the best use of these components to optimize our living space. Work was performed neatly, on-schedule, to plan, and on budget. George orchestrated all the sub-contracting masterfully to maintain the project's schedule. In every way on our project, George Matthews Construction Services upheld the highest standard of design and building best practice.

George is a smart, professional, personable man who knows his business. He was prompt, did good work, and cleaned up completely. The French doors turned out to be a bigger problem than anticipated, and so took longer. A good find.

He just got his license and his expertise is green construction and energy conservation. He was on time and very knowledgeable. He taught me a lot. He is so knowledgeable about the energy conservation process.

He was very green friendly and was pro-active in helping me make decisions about things like insulation and really stayed on top of all his subcontractors to make sure everything was done right. He was very neat, always made sure things were picked up. He has a really great aesthetic sense and did a great job of working with my vision of the the kitchen. The final product looks exactly the way I had envisioned. He was very timely.

We hired George from a Berkeley Parents recommendation. We needed someone to find out how an opossum was getting into our eaves and also to do small jobs like earthquake proofing cabinets. George found the opossum entry on the roof when several roofers and a contractor couldn't. And he figured out how to close off the small entry point. He did other small jobs and then suggested ways to conserve energy in our 1911 house and followed through on that. We found George thoughtful, intelligent and truly interested in helping us.
