Cash set my fountain on an Aquabasin and bought a new, reliable pump. He brought gravel and rocks, and then used rocks and other items I already had to create a beautiful, forest-like effect. He ran electric cords in pipes underground for the pumps and lighting. The whole time, he was enthusiastic - as well as being responsive to my ideas while he was working. Both he and Kevin were careful and particular, making sure it was done just right.
The price is a lot of money for me, but it was worth every penny. Right now I am sitting watching my bubbling fountain while I write, and I haven't been as glad at anything I have done so far to fix up my house.

I already had a waterfall that had been inexpertly installed. That experience enabled me to be very clear with Cash French about the challenge I presented: demanding but not impossible. I paid his fee to do a site visit, and I solicited quotes from two others. Intuitively, I knew that Cash would be my best choice. I told him that he needed to keep only one word in mind: Natural.
Given my very high expectations, it is amazing that Cash could exceed them. I now have the waterfall of my dreams on the steep hill of my backyard.
It is natural looking, beautifully illuminated at night, landscaped with lovely plants, and soothing to the ear. Cash kept in touch with me throughout my decision process without pressuring me, was readily available to answer my questions, and finished a complete redesign, reconfiguration, and renovation of my water feature in his predicted two days. His assistants were a pleasure to have on my property, and Cash was with them every instant. His artistic sensibilities, quality focus, customer service, and engaging personality provided a wonderful experience.
I endorse Cash French at the highest level.

I kind of new what I wanted, but it was difficult to articulate what I wanted. Cash French was truly patient and open as he listened to my thoughts, asked additional questions. When finished listening he together a model to visualize the what it might look like. With a few suggestions, he accomplished what i desired and more within my budget. My wife and I thrilled and extremely satisfied with results, value, and service. I highly recommend French's Waterscapes!!

Cash came highly recommended by Alden Lane Nursery, here in Livermore. I emailed him a picture of the space where I wanted my water feature, where an old cement fountain had been removed. Power & water were already there. He was able to draw a general concept over my picture and send it back to me. I really liked that instant feedback of his idea that I could actually see and not just visualize.
Cash then came to see the area and to give me an estimate. Before he arrived, I had already been on his website and looked at every single picture he had. I was highly impressed by his amazing ideas and creations! Just beautiful work, so I was already excited wondering what he could do with my small space! We hashed over different ideas and came up with a design that was beautiful, functional and affordable. My only issue was a time constraint. I was having 14 screaming girl scouts there for a BBQ on a Saturday afternoon and really wanted it done by then! Cash promised me that it would be done by then, as it would only take 2 days to complete! From dirt to flowing water... 2 days!
Later that week, Cash and his foreman Mike showed up and got busy. The electricity and water were already at this site due to the old existing fountain that never worked from when I bought the house. They were very neat, tidy & careful not to trample my roses that were next to this area. He texted me pictures after the first day since I had to work. Incredible what they got done in just 1 day. Such labor intensive work for a 3' high water feature! They higher you want it, the more labor & materials (and expense) involved. That was very obvious in looking at the pictures.
By day 2, day of the Girl Scout BBQ as well, they completed setting all the rocks and planted at least a dozen plants within the water feature. When I turned on the remote control for the first time and saw the water cascading down and drop into the rocks at the bottom it was amazing! Then to hear the water flowing was so relaxing! I couldn't wait to see it at night with the 3 lights he tucked within the rocks. Before they left, Mike & Cash swept and hosed off my entire patio & side yard where they had been walking and bringing dirt, rocks and supplies through. It's like they were never there it was so clean! What Cash created for me was so breathtaking that I couldn't stop looking at it!
Later that evening, it looked wonderful all lit up. Felt like we were camping under the stars by a creek, eating s'mores and singing camp songs! I sent Cash some pictures that night and he gave me pointers on how to move the lights into better position. I was thankful for the 'tech support' that night a few times since then as well!
I can't say enough about Cash and the beautiful water feature he created for me! So many nights I have slept with my bedroom slider open and drifted off to sleep with the sound of the water! So relaxing! I can open any door or window in my house and hear the water. And I can't say enough about how easy Cash was to work with. He was a business man of his word and gave me exactly what I was promised, when I was promised it. I felt his price was very fair considering all the labor that was involved in creating this from a flat dirt area. Digging the reservoir and building up the height of the top of the water fall, and the surrounding creek bed. I show pictures of my water feature to everyone and they are in awe of it's beauty! I love what Cash did for me so much that I'm considering a 2nd water feature in my front yard. The follow up maintenance was great too. I recently had him out to drain the water and clean the pump. Split up some plants that were really growing fast. It looks and sounds wonderful!
I highly recommend Cash for his years of expertise, beautifully creative designs and he is an amazing person to work with. His attention to detail was key for me, as I too pay attention to details. He loves what he does and it shows! I proudly show off his work and I welcome anyone who wants to come see it before hiring Cash.

For 15 years, I've been involved with so many remodeling and construction jobs that I have lost count but I've never asked for a company sign. I ask the guys at French's Waterscapes to give me a sign to post on my back fence near a walking trail. I am also a curious neighbor peeking through my neighbor's fences on the trail and I've seen a lot of backyard waterfalls. I already had a waterfall before I found French's Waterscapes, but I always felt that it was missing a certain something. French's Waterscapes definitely brought the "something" to this project.
Here's what I started with:
Three years ago I had a waterfall built that started at the top of a steep slope, and meandered down the slope about 35 feet, then dropping into an unattractive perfectly round hole about 6 feet in diameter. Water level was 8-10 inches below ground level and was a sludgy green algae mess. A couple years ago I added 6 mosquito fish to take care of the mosquito-breeding problems that came up from the standing water. Two years later I had about ~100 mosquito fish (warning).
I started thinking about how I was going to fix the algae mess, and I already knew that the more water the easier it is to manage water quality. My husband wanted to take it all out and put in a pool instead. We've got 2 little ones, 6 and 4 years old that are not swimmers yet. Between the safety concern with having a pool and the idea of a big hole in the ground with salt or bleach water for swimming the idea just didn't appeal to me. I wanted to continue my landscaping theme of natural and wildlife friendly. So I started looking for someone to either help fix the algae problem or demo the whole thing.
That's when I found French's Waterscapes.
My main concern from the start was always safety and I also care a lot about aesthetics. There's no way I was going to put in a new water feature that required me to change my parenting style. I like for my kids to have free reign in the backyard and be creative on their own. There's something special that happens when kids are allowed to explore their world without direction from the grown-ups, and we're a homeschooling family so my kids spend a ton of time in the backyard creating, learning, and exploring.
French's Waterscapes brought an amazing plan to the table. Ultimately they put in a pond approximately 17 x 20 feet with an amazing filtration system. The deepest part is ~36 inches, but covered with grates to create a standing height of ~18". No part of the pond is more than 18" standing height. AND, they had a brilliant idea to create a special beach area off to one side where my girls can hang out in ankle deep water and play. On the opposite end of the pond, is a grown-up area to sit and hang our feet in the water. Love!
Every step of the way, the entire crew from French's Waterscape amazed me with their precision and attention to detail. With all the dirt that needed to be removed (~18 yards), shovels just weren't a practical way to get that job done so they brought in a bobcat. My house is cozy with the neighbor, with an opening clearance at the gate of 42 3/4 inches. The bobcat is 42 inches. We did have the option of removing the fence post and gaining another 3 1/2 inches, but I only wanted to do that as a last resort. When the guys went through the gate with the bobcat, they didn't so much as brush against the post. I don't think I could have fit my pinky between the tractor and the gatepost. I barely saw a sliver of sunlight. They drove that tractor all the way to the back yard with not even a scratch on the stucco.
~18 yards of soil was taken out and ~14,000 pounds of big rocks and countless pounds of pebbles were put in. Everyone at French's Waterscapes is very professional, and my project was managed efficiently. My girls literally couldn't wait to get in the pond and start the serious business of playing. While the guys worked my girls got a head start on enjoying the kid area. I think my kid's bike and scooter riding days are over!
Words cannot describe how happy I am with everything. This was a well-run project with amazing results.
As for my husband, who originally wanted a pool, and was very resistant to the idea of a pond, much less this size, he's already planning an add-on pond with a stream connecting to the one French's Waterscapes just created, and he has made a list of which fish we're adding first.
Cash is artistic and creative on a scale I rarely see. Cash's foreman Mike was on this project as well. He knew exactly what was going on every step of the way. The entire crew worked tirelessly the entire time they were here. If you are considering adding a water feature to your garden, call French's Waterscapes!

They were along with myself really happy to have the cooler of refreshing drinks and the food you provided. We had 4 different contractors work on our yard landscaping, and we interviewed each carefully. Cash's waterscape work was the best of the bunch. He was thoughtful, committed and conscientious. Best of all, unlike other works, his stood the test of time.

"Member, It was really good to see you again. I am really glad you had us come out for your yearly water garden cleaning. We so much appreciate the opportunity to serve you. Your water garden is doing really well and let me know if you would like me to send you any more information for other enhancements to your garden. Since you waited a couple of years to get a cleaning we will be able to spend less time next year power washing all the beautiful rocks and even more time pruning your water plants and even spreading more of them out so you have even more softness along the stream area! We found three areas of your long stream that had slipped down and we fixed these areas. One was really close to leaking up on the top right side near your first waterfall. PLEASE VISIT US: We will be at the San Francisco Flower and Garden Show this year at the San Mateo Convention center. We will be selling water plants at booth #1247 in the plant market area. Since your back yard has not had enough lushness from what you told me.... I will make the point of having at the show several plants that will take the conditions in your back yard. As a small thank you, you will receive one water plant on the house just for showing up. Also, you will not have to carry it around with you....we will drop it off after the show that day on our way home. We are happy to be celebrating our 14th year in business this May and I wanted to personally thank you for being one of our over 1,000 happy customers. Please have a really great rest of the weekend and know that we are only a phone call away. Sincerely, Cash French French's Waterscapes www.fwpond.com 925-322-1386 [email protected]"
