The job was completed in 2 - 3 days. He did a good job at protecting my home/belongings from paint splatter and with cleaning up after himself. But these are the only positive things to say about him/his work. After the job was finished and during the walk-through (when he collected payment in full and returned my house key), I showed him many missed spots on the ceilings of every room that he painted and he agreed that the job required touch up. I also called him out on the fact that he did not tape off the wall where the ceiling met the wall, which resulted in 3-5+ inches of ceiling paint. He suggested that it would have been too time consuming to tape it off correctly and that since we had plans to paint the interior walls that this was ok. He never asked when we would be able to paint the interior walls -- nor asked if I was OK with his time saving solution of having a ring of ceiling paint on the top of my walls.
We now had to move forward with the rest of the interior sooner than we had planned and budgeted (because of the ceiling paint all over the walls), received a bid from Bryan and scheduled the work for the interior to be done + the ceiling touch ups -- again, this process took longer than Bryan liked due to my designer. Again, he became unresponsive and short in his communications with me. When the work was finally scheduled for mid-May, I asked him to submit a new bid doing less work, expecting the bid to be less -- but not with Bryan. His bid increased though less work was being requested. When I pointed this out and showed him emails documenting the inconsistencies and the lower bids, he suggested that there must be a misunderstanding because of the changes that I have requested over the months. Every request that I made was in writing via email -- done in order to document the process.
Because of the increased bid, we opted not to have him paint our interior. We did, however, expect him to clean up the ceiling misses from the job he did -- and after eight months, he has not done this. He did not respond to my communications requesting a specific date/time when he could touch up the ceiling work -- sent on May 22nd and June 8th. On August 30th, I emailed again and his response was that he wouldn't be able to get to the ceiling work until after September 30th. On 9/1, I asked him for a specific date. No response. On 9/8, I sent another email. No response. On 9/22, after sending another email to him, he finally responds and advises, "I'm extremely busy tring to get exterior work done by the winter, I will be available after the rains start ". On 9/23, I asked for a specific date by end of business on 9/26, and he never gave me one. To date, the ceiling touch up work has not been done (which as you may recall, he admitted that it needed during the walk through when he received payment in full).
To make matters worst, as time has progressed -- it is becoming more obvious that the ceilings in several of the rooms were painted very uneven. Also, the wood knots have been bleeding through the paint (though he said that he would be able to prevent that by using super toxic oil based primer).
Would definitely not recommend.
"The customer seems to have her facts wrong, first, we were told that we would be doing the entire home, after only doing the ceiling, we were told to stop, lack of funds to finish all walls, they would do that part, (easy) after trying to schedule, twice, to touch-up small caulking spots on the wood ceiling, (a year went by) I decided to give up. Don't really think she wanted us to do entire job. Bryan Welden"
