Excellent job. This has been the smoothest home project we have ever had. The workers were professional and punctual. We were not tied down to the house. They cleaned up every evening. The project was completed in a timely manner. Our roof is tiled and approximately 3,000 square feet. They used double 40 pound tar paper meaning that each roll overlaps the one next to it That means we actually have 80 pound paper under the roof tiles. Everything that was not flashed properly was flashed and sealed to prevent water damage. (NOTE: We have solar panels that we had installed over two years ago but had purchased them from another company that only did solar installation - nothing more.) We chose RC Energy Solutions because they were highly rated for roofing and solar. Additionally, one of our good friends had used them and they were highly recommended. RC Energy Solutions took our solar panels down and after that part of the roof was completed, the panels were reinstalled and RC Energy Solutions made sure our solar was up and running properly. We were without solar for less than a week - and that is incredible. We highly recommend RC Energy Solutions. It is comforting to know that we have a roofing and solar company we can depend upon.

Overall, we're really happy with the price point and the result of the projects RC energy has performed for us and we will continue to do business with them. I'll start with the solar project. We were on a deadline to get under net metering 1.0 and if we couldn't get installed in the next 6 weeks there were no guarantees we would get the best deal from our solar array. We got a lot of contractor bids and not only did Justin offer up the same panels and inverters as pretty much all the other contractor bids the price was much cheaper and they said they could deliver in 2-3 weeks where everyone else said "there's no way you're getting this done for 2-3 months". I was a little worried that Justin was so confident on the delivery date but everything went as planned and was even delivered a little early. The team was fast and professional. We've had the system for a couple years now and our electric bill is almost zero. No problems noted with it, very happy with the results. Now this year we did windows, because our home had lots of very large single paned windows which basically made the house the exact same temperature inside as outside pretty much always. This project didn't go as seamlessly as the solar but overall we're really happy with it. It's been much cooler in the summer, our AC doesn't have to run all the time, and I don't think we've had to turn on the heat at all because the windows do such a good job insulating at night. I felt like most if not all the hiccups in this project were attributable to the window manufacturer we chose (Amerimax) rather than RC Energy. At first there was a manufacturer defect and one of the windows had a hard time closing. Additionally, the screen on one of the sliding glass doors stuck a bit as well. Within a couple weeks we had replacements and Justin's team finished up the project. The screen door was still not perfect but RC energy was really responsive and got us new rollers. So the bottom line with this is that Amerimax windows are really nice but the screens could be better. This is a minor issue since once again the project was quick, the team was fast and professional, and we were really happy with the price for quality of the windows. They look really nice from the home exterior and drastically improved the outward appearance of our home. Justin's team also rebuilt the deck off our master bedroom. Was waiting to review this one after the first rain but happy to report that there is no longer water leaking into our garage. We have independently tried to repair this deck ourselves twice and hired it out once to only have it leak a ton so really glad it finally looks to be fixed. Justin is not a pushy sales person. He doesn't offer people more than they ask for and doesn't try to upsell you just to pad his profit margins so I appreciate the business style even though it can be somewhat casual. If you expect a button up shirt project manager with beautifully laminated picture binders this isn't the business for you, but my experience is all that facade costs a lot more. Overall thoughts is RC energy offers really good value and I'll continue to utilize their services for this reason. They've worked hard to ensure we're satisfied and we're up to 3 completed projects, so there's that. Posted below, our sad old single pane windows and the brand new windows which really improve the appearance of the back of our house.

Top notch team and service! Right on par with pricing and better with service. That's a great combination. What I liked the most was that Justin focused on what his company did and never bashed the other guys. That to me shows confidence and respect for the industry. They were perfect with timeliness, total professional installation crew and clean. I also like that they do more than just solar. I total energy acumen is more advantageous for a company than just "solar." Thanks guys.

I got bids from three A rated roofing companies in spring of 2017. My house is a single story, just under 2300 square feet, plus garage and required 30 squares of roofing. I had a leak where my flat roof joined the peaked roof (was originally a breezeway). Because I had a Decratile metal roof over an original cedar shake roof, the job was complicated. All three companies said I needed to replace the entire roof. The only one to actually get on the roof and also check the attic to see if there was sheathing under the cedar roof was Ken from RC Energy Solutions. The bids were all fairly close. I chose this company because of two things: a recommendation from a contractor friend who had used them, and the thoroughness of their bid process. All three warned me that they could not do the work until summer, which was fine. RC Energy replaced the two layers of old roof, rebuilt the flat roof, which had not been correctly joined to the peak to begin with, in late July/ early August. It took a week to do the job. Workers were polite, thorough, and cleaned up. Because I had wanted to have solar (which could not be installed over the original metal tile roof), and the cost was less than I had been quoted by previous solar installers, I opted to add solar panels. That was completed in early October, a two-three day job, plus wait time for SDGE inspections. The new roof is a Corning product, reflective asphalt, with several roof vents. Some of the fascia and sheathing had to be replaced due to dry rot/termite damage. They also had to remove and replace the solar thermal pool heating. The solar install included 20 Silfab panels (made in Canada), a new electrical panel, and stucco repair around the panel. I am very happy with the appearance of the roof, and the electrical savings of the panels. Ken, Justin, and Christa were very responsive to any question or concern I h and the whole experience was a pleasant one.

I want to add another great review for RC Energy and call out some of the folks for great work. We have a typical Carlsbad stucco 2 story home built in 1992. We get enough of a breeze that homes in our (almost coastal) neighborhood are 50/50 whether they have AC or not. I wanted to stay without the operating cost of AC, so I chose to improve the thermal performance of the house with new windows, blown in attic insulation, and a solar attic fan. I met with tons of contractors and chose RC b/c Kenny knew what he was talking about and the price compared fairly with all others too. Sales: Kenny was great during the sales process. Explained all the nuances with various energy products. He listened to my needs and was flexible with working with some of the unique specs I wanted. In the end, I chose to go with LE3 dual pane Argon windows. Christa was very communicative with scheduling and always kept me posted. Window install: You need to get Vlad and Tyler to do your window installs. They work great as a team together and are nice guys. Busted out the demo and install in two days (31 windows). I specifically noticed how careful and deliberate they worked, whether navigating around furniture/electronics or moving the new windows into place. They paid lots of attention to the finishing touches (cleaning and sealing). Attic insulation: I had weak insulation from the codes back in 1992, maybe only 4 inches so I wanted to add another foot or so. Alex and Jose arrived on time to blow in the new insulation. They ran a hose from their truck up through a 2nd story window and into the attic. They were very careful moving their equipment around the hallway so as not to ding anything. They also paid attention to not mucking up the new carpet and kept their work on the drop cloths. New insulation took about 30 minutes and it looks like I now have a vast sea of insulation up there now, something like 1.5-2 feet thick. They even paid attention to get to the hard to reach corners of the attic. Solar fan: I chose one of these to keep the air constantly cycled up there so that it’s not just a heat bomb radiating downwards all day and into the evening. Gilbert arrived on time and completed the install in 30 minutes. He was very knowledgeable and crisp with his explanations. The solar fan just required removing a few tiles and flashing the base into the surrounding tiles. Very clean install. After all this was done, we had one of those 93 degree days in Carlsbad. The result was a wonderful 20 degree differential between outside and inside, all without AC! Great work!

There were three different crews, all three of them highly qualified, diligent and professional. The first one worked hard to remove the old tiles and roof within a day. The second one did the main body of work, building our new roof with such skills and attention to detail that even a layman could see the quality of work and product. This part took about a week. The third crew installed the solar panels in less than a day. Management and office kept us informed at all times and next thing you know we're final going solar!! Thank you RC Energy Solutions!!

The crew was phenomenal. I cannot say enough good things about the punctuality of the crew, thoroughness and overall workmanship you get from these guys. We will be using them for all our future roofing/solar needs. They are truly hands above anybody else in San Diego!

RC Energy and its owner Justin Lonson has a great team from sales to fulfillment. They helped me with the Solar Design, showed me the panel layout, energy production and helped me understand various financing options. I chose to pay cash for the system as it was the most attractive return. They also took care of getting neighbor and HOA consent.  The next step was permitting with the town of Carlsbad which they handled most professionally. Once the project was ready for install, they contacted me well in advance to set the install date and a week prior spoke to me about logistics. They delivered all the components the day prior to install. My install job was complicated but they completed the job in 3 days. I had to wait a week for SDGE to turn on net metering. FIVE STARS!

RC was on time & very professional. They provided the best financing options, and did not try an push a particular panel.

They showed up on time and effectively/efficiently performed an analysis. Subsequently they provided a bid for service. Unfortunately, i had to pospone the project however i will contact them when i return.

Justin was at a disadvantage when he came to bid the job. We had been working this install for quite some time and were hitting roadblocks at every corner. We had dealt with some pretty disappointing people for months. We were at the point where we didn't trust anyone. Because of the modification to our home, and our distrust of those we dealt with, we eventually got our own architect/engineer to do the math to ensure the job was done correctly.
Justin was on time, courteous and very knowledgeable of the various products on the market that could suit our purpose. He assured us that his company could have performed the job quite well, and quite safey. He showed us a variety of products that could suit our needs (we were pretty set on whom we wanted to purchase from, before we met him). We eventually purchased a set of doors that had all the features (security, warranty etc) that we wanted under our budgeted price! His bid for the installation was better than the other bids we received.
He was very attentive and quickly answered our calls and emails with accurate honest answers. He was cleary motivated to assist us in any way he could.
