Apache Asphalt was one of multiple bids we took from paving services offered on Angie's list. The Apache Asphalt estimator came out promptly, was very professional and we received the calculated information quickly. One of the other companies never showed up and with another the estimator finally appeared a week after the initial appointment. Apache Asphalt's bid was competitive and their professional manner impressed us so we signed with them.
We were initially having the paving done in order to finish an entry gate but we also were interested in a break down of the cost of just filling the pot holes in our 700 ft driveway or repaving the whole thing. The crew came out and got the potholes and entry paved in a day. However, instead of filling in asphalt to 3 inches below the gate the crew filled in 3 inches of asphalt under the gate. It was a understandable matter of interpretation. We phoned the company and without hesitation they sent the crew back out and contoured the pavement up to the gate. They responded promptly and did not charge us any more of the additional material. That is professional service. The work they did in 2012 is still holding but eventually we will need to call them back to pave the entire 700 ft driveway.

.perhaps we misunderstood or did not communicate what we expected....as the end result looks AWFUL!!!! they patched and then sealed 30 days later.........the cracks still show.....the seal is rough and spotty,,,,,the edges are SLOPPY,,,IT JUST LOOKS AWFUL!! Will say they were prompt and polite ,,,did give us a small price adjustment ($135) when they found we were unhappy.....BUT IT WAS NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE...would not recommend......

"When Selling the job, I carefully explained that the asphalt skin patching is a different texture than the remainder of the driveway and that the driveway would look black when sealed but the texture of the new and the old pavement would show through. We also applied a cracksealer to her cracks for free which we normally charge for. I did suggest overlaying the entire driveway but she didn't want to go with that as she was looking for the cheapest fix. Overall we thought the driveway looked nice but she didn't like it. She should have chosen to have a new asphalt overlay if she wanted a new smooth consistant surface. She called yesterday and we are coming back again to do touchups that we offer for free. Sincerely, Stewart McClure Apache Asphalt & Seal Corp."

The job, in the beginning, was going well; however, after they were finished and before the seal coat, the asphalt started to erupt in many places. I called the owner and he came over to inspect. Since the company neglected to spray a weed killer prior to the asphalt there is a huge problem with weeds coming up through the asphalt. They have repaired several areas 2 times and the last time the repairs were very sloppy. The weeds are coming back up even where they repaired. Again they neglected to spray for weeds and pull the roots. Also in our contract with them, they were suppose to put 4 inches of asphalt. In many of the areas the asphalt is very thin and at the most 3 inches. The owner of the company is doing his best to fix the problem but I would never recommend them to anyone.

"UNFORTUNATELY, UNFORESEENS ON CONSTRUCTION GRADING JOBS CAN AND DO OCCCUR. APACHE ASPHALT & SEAL CORP HAS BEEN IN BUSINESS SINCE 1990 AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME WE HAVE RUN INTO THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM. SHE ASKED US TO GRADE A PARKING AREA NEXT TO HER SEPTIC SYSTEM. AT THE TIME, THERE WERE NO WEEDS GROWING. WE ALWAYS TREAT AREAS WITH A WEED KILLER PRIOR TO WORK IF WE SEE WEEDS. WE GRADED DOWN TO SOLID DIRT, COMPACTED THE AREA, INSTALLED 4" OF CLASS 11 ROCK AND 3" OF ASPHALT. THE CONTRACT CALLED FOR 3" OF ASPHALT NOT 4" AS SHE STATED. BY HER OWN ADMISSION WE PUT IN THE PROPER AMOUNT. A MONTH OR SO LATER, WE RECIEVED A CALL FROM HER SAYING THE ASPHALT WAS PUSHING UP IN PLACES. WE CAME OUT, DUG THROUGH THE ASPHALT AND FOUND THAT THERE WERE BULBS PUSHING UP MANY SHOOTS THAT PUSHED UP THE ASPHALT. MANY OF THESE WERE 18" BELOW OUR GRADING JOB. WE CAME OUT TWO MORE TIMES TO PATCH AND CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND JUST FINISHED LAST WEEK WITH A NICE SEALCOAT. WE DIDN'T CHARGE HER FOR ANY OF THE REPAIRS AND COULD HAVE SINCE BULBS ARE AN UNFORESEEN EVENT. HER HUSBAND WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE FINISHED PRODUCT. WE STAND BY ALL OF OUR WORK AND ARE DISAPPOINTED THAT SHE WOULD HAVE GIVEN US A POOR RATING SINCE WE DID EVERYTHING THAT SHE ASKED. SURPRISES CAN AND DO LURK UNDERGROUND WHEN YOU DO GRADING. WE WOULD HAVE LIKED TO HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THESE BULBS PRIOR TO OUR START OF WORK. SINCERELY, STEWART MCCLURE (PRESIDENT)"
