"Thank you for your positive feedback! We really appreciate it! If I remember correctly, we beat that other quote by over $1,000. Call us for a complimentary filter change when air conditioning season begins!"
The contractor's proposal implied a permitted installation which they did not do or offer to do. We also spent several hours over several weeks to obtain a proper installation and the final permit. Our desire was to hire a professional who would provide a proper installation and completed building permit. An owner without some building experience likely would not end up with a permitted installation.
"A permit was pulled and a final inspection was performed. The reason why VACCO does not schedule a final inspection for the homeowner is because, in most cases, the inspector does not give a specific time of day that the inspection will be performed. Even though we at VACCO are charming and fun to be around, most customers do not want us sitting at their house all day waiting for the inspector to arrive. Therefore, VACCO pulls the necessary permit and gives the phone number to the customer so they can call for an inspection when they know they will have time to be home for the inspector. This has never been a problem for any of the thousands of customers we have, but apparently it was for this particular customer. VACCO offered to schedule the inspection for the customer, but the customer would not be specific about when he would be home. VACCO suggested that he leave a key, but the customer declined. VACCO explained that there was no other way to schedule an inspection unless we knew there would be someone home to open the door for the inspector. With all construction jobs, sometimes the inspector finds things that were missed and need to be fixxed. In this case the inspector required a carbon monoxide detector and a setback thermostat. VACCO promptly installed the carbon monoxide detector and the thermostat. Since California code requires that setback thermostats be installed, VACCO was unaware that our supply house had accidentally given us a non setback thermostat. Again, VACCO promptly made the correction and the job passed it's inspection. VACCO would like to note that because of our 24/7 OUTSTANDING customer service, we were able to make all corrections and get the job to pass inspection. Nobody likes when a job doesn't go perfectly smooth, especially us! Thousands of satisfied customers will agree that what happened on this job was not the norm. In construction, these things happen, and finding a reliable contractor like VACCO that will honor their agreement and make things right is rare these days. The important thing is that the inspector found the furnace to be professionally installed and in perfect working condition. Even with all that, this particular customer could not be pleased and therefore gave us an F. Yes, it's a little dramatic, but it happens. Considering we have had no calls since the installation concerning the performance of the furnace, It must be running great!"
